We offer two locations to serve the entire Kansas City metro area.

Cremation Services

Added in the fall of 2003 to our Lenexa facility, the crematory is reflective of Porter's commitment to excellence and quality. Our cremation equipment is state-of-the-art and equals or exceeds every state and local operating equipment standard. Our facility allows a special viewing area located next to our crematory to accomodate those who wish to be present during the cremation process.

Our crematory is always available for inspection. we have developed the most rigorous set of operating procedures in order to maximize our level of service. Our staff has been trained and certified by the Cremation Association of North America. We require licensed professionals to oversee the operation of our cremation equipment at all times. We invite you to visit any of our locations to discuss our burial or cremation services or to tour our new crematory in Lenexa.

Services of the Funeral Director and Staff

Our fee for the services of funeral director and staff includes, but is not limited to:

  • Staff response to initial request for services
  • Arrangement conference with family and responsible party
  • Arrangement of funeral
  • Preparation and filing of necessary authorizations and permits
  • Recording vital statistics
  • Preparation and placement of obituary notices
  • Staff assistance prior to, during and following funeral including coordination with those providing other portions of the funeral (i.e. cemetery, crematory and others).

Care: Embalming

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial.

Other Preparation of the Body

May include necessary cosmetizing, restorative art, casketing of remains and/or washing sanitizing and placement of non-embalmed body.

Facilities

Use of facilities and equipment may include use of staff, facilities and equipment for visitation (per day), funeral services, memorial services and graveside services.

Automotive Equipment

We offer automobile transfer of remains to the funeral home, a funeral coach, a limousine, flower/service utility vehicle and a suburban.

Immediate Burial

We offer immediate burial, without attendant rites or ceremonies. Includes removal, washing, disinfecting, shelter of remains, local transportation to cemetery, services from staff and authorizations.

Direct Cremations

We offer direct cremation without attendant rites or ceremonies. Includes removal of remains, washing, disinfecting, housing of remains, services from staff and authorizations. An alternative container is permitted for direct cremation, but are required to be made of fiberboard like materials.

Forwarding Remains to Another Funeral Home

Includes removal of remains, necessary services of staff, embalming and other preparation, necessary authorizations and local transportation to K.C.I. This charge does not include visitation, rites or ceremonies.

Receiving Remains from Another Funeral Home

Includes temporary shelter of remains, transportation of remains from K. C. I and to cemetery, necessary services and staff. This charge does not include visitation, rites or ceremonies.
