Ardis A. Cook peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Jesus took her hand and welcomed her home.
Ardis was born in Neodesha, Kansas, on December 12, 1955, to Ed and Louise Worley, where she was raised in a loving Christian home. Every Sunday, she would walk to church with family, followed by dinner at her grandparents' farm. Her fondest memories included chasing chickens, taking turns riding cows into the barn, and countless hours playing with her beloved sister Jane and cousin Julie.
Ardis embraced every opportunity in her youth to learn and serve, as she participated in Girl Scouts, PHA, Madrigals, piano, Methodist Youth Fellowship, student council and Job's Daughters. She developed the dedication and work ethic that would guide her throughout her life.
During high school, Ardis met the athletic young man who captured her heart. She often said she fell "head over heels" in love with Martin, whom she affectionately called "Marty." Together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage and raised three children: Amy, Matthew, and Scott.
Ardis graduated from Pittsburg State University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. For more than 48 years, she faithfully served on mother-baby units at multiple Kansas hospitals. She truly loved helping mothers and babies under her care, and teaching new staff beginning their own careers.
She said nurses make a hospital run.
Her happiest moments were spent cooking, sewing, reading, hiking and enjoying God's creations, gathering with family, and serving her church. A devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene, she faithfully attended bible study and Caravans and Operation Christmas Shoebox.
Ardis was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Louise Worley, and her infant brother, Jack Worley.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Martin; daughter, Amy and spouse Karen; son Matthew and spouse Angela; son Scott and spouse Kristen; and her cherished grandchildren: Rebecca, Zachary, Parker, Preston, and Willow: Siblings Rob, Rick and Jane with their families.
