Carmen Mallouk

April 3, 1943    July 3, 2026

Carmen Mallouk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully the morning of July 3, 2026, due to complications from dementia, surrounded by her family. She was 83.

Born April 3, 1943, in Mansura, Egypt, Carmen excelled at school, graduating with honors from the Collège de la Sainte Famille with a double major in Philosophy and Psychology. She met and married Alexander Mallouk shortly before the couple immigrated to the United States, and they settled in Kansas City, arriving with one shared suitcase and without a single friend or relative to greet them. Carmen attended graduate school at UMKC until the arrival of her first son, Peter, in 1970, and welcomed twin boys, Mark and Ramey, in 1973 (two weeks past their due date). A dedicated and loving mother and a constant presence at her sons’ events, she taught French in the Kansas City, Missouri school district and led French mini-courses at her sons’ grade school.

Faith was the enduring cornerstone of Carmen’s life. A devoted Catholic, she served her family parish, Curé of Ars, as both a Eucharistic minister and a lector, proclaiming the readings at Mass for many years.

Carmen also gave generously of herself to her community. She volunteered at the Crittenton Center, served as president of both the Metropolitan Medical Society Alliance and the Arab American Medical Society Alliance, and for over a decade represented her native Egypt on the Ethnic Enrichment Commission.

Carmen and Alexander were passionate travelers who never missed an opportunity to see the world. She was also a serious and gifted artist: painting was a lifelong passion, and she was an accomplished photographer, always finding the beauty around her.

She leaves behind Dr. Alexander Mallouk, her husband of nearly sixty years; her three sons, Peter, Mark, and Ramey; and six grandchildren: Michael, Gabrielle, John Peter, Alexander, Christopher, and Cleopatra. She was preceded in death by her sister, Didi, and is survived by her siblings Neva, Gamil, George, and Mona, along with countless relatives and friends.

Carmen is already missed desperately and will never be forgotten by the many who loved her.
