Mar 13, 1958---Jun 27, 2026

Brenda Gay Moore, 68, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2026. She was born in Springfield, Missouri, on March 13, 1958, to Bernard and Geraldine Morris. Her parents instilled in her an exceptional work ethic, love of the outdoors and an appreciation for the farm. Her mother gave her the gift of cooking, especially baking, which she in turn passed on to her daughters.

Brenda attended Hillcrest High School where she was a Highlander, graduating in 1976. Brenda played Triple A Fast Pitch recreationally in the Springfield community. She came to know the city’s people and connections, inspired by her father’s leadership at the helm of Springfield’s largest union, Teamsters Local #245.

Her professional career was highlighted by her talent in sales. She began at Springfield Remanufacturing Center then transitioned into waste management for Browning Ferris. Her career concluded with managing and helping to grow Terry Stone’s Automated Waste Services into an industry leader in the southwest Missouri market.

Known for her polished appearance and meticulous attention to detail, she found joy in cultivating a beautifully kept home and flourishing garden, reflecting the pride and care she poured into everything she did. Next to her family and friends was her love for her dogs, who were her constant work and life companions.

Multiple health issues compromised her last few years, but she remained committed to family. She was affectionately known to her family as MiMi, valuing her relationship with her granddaughter, Aubry, and grandson, Cooper. She was grateful for her husband’s devoted care and exceptional cooking, finding her greatest contentment in family dinners and a good glass of wine.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Geraldine Morris, along with several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Cliff Moore, Olathe, Kansas, and two daughters: Alicia Hathaway and her husband Brooks of Olathe, Kansas, and their two children, Aubry and Cooper; Bethany Murray, and her husband Josh Murray of Springfield, Missouri; her sister, Debbie Kincaid and husband, Bill of Willard, MO and their sons Kelly Kincaid and Joshua Kincaid; her aunt Barbara Teidt and niece Kimberly Adams; and her cousins Sherry Martin and Ricky Kroutil.  She is also survived by her husband’s two sisters and their husbands and families.

May her spirit be found in the ocean waves, and a good glass of champagne.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at the Fieldston of Fairway community room located at 4210 Shawnee Mission Pkwy Fairway, KS beginning at 3:00pm with a eulogy delivered at 4:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the KC Pet Project, On a Mission KC, or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Brenda kept the home fires burning. She served by keeping track of everything and making everything nice. For Brenda, life was no fable or morality play where good overcomes evil, or where a life lesson is suddenly learned with perfect clarity. Her story was to sit watching as life’s river flowed slowly by and remind everyone not to dwell in the past or dream of the future. Brenda concentrated on and lived in the present tense, however bleak it seemed to others. Her work was to discover the world they had been given, find the good, and then with all her heart give herself to it. Brenda became the rock at the edge of the lake where weary people come to sit. She could not stop the river. She could not reverse its current. She remained there, steady enough for the rest of us to rest beside her. Brenda taught by example. Life’s river is going to flow by. We sit on the bank and watch. Others might say something like, “We can live on an even keel. The tyranny of expectation can be softened as we learn to live in the present.”  Instead, Brenda said, “It is what it is.  We’ll get through.”

Cliff Debbie and I wish to express our condolonces for your loss. You and Brenda have been great neighbors and we have enjoyed our conversations. I’m reminded of the time I brought my grandson trick or treating. When we got to your house Brenda asked who he was with. She saw me at the driveway and gave him the whole bag! He was quite impressed. Gary
