May 27, 1949---Jun 18, 2026

Cathleen "Cathy" Bellafiore, 77, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully after her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Thursday, June 18, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her devoted husband and family.

Cathy was born May 27, 1949, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Charles and Frances (Mannino) Badami. Cathy was a graduate of Oak Park North High School and met the love of her life Joseph Ballafiore at 15 years old. They were married in 1970 and celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in January of this year. Cathy had a strong devotion to her family, and worked alongside her husband for many years. Her greatest joy was her role as a mother to her three daughters.  As a woman very dedicated to her Catholic faith, she and Joe made regular pilgrimages to sacred grottos and basilicas. Mother Mary had a special place in her heart and she regularly supported organizations committed to helping children and bringing the Catholic faith to others. One of her greatest pastimes was baking Italian cookies for others, especially her yearly contribution to the St. Joesph’s table at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Charles Badami; her sister, Charlene, and her son-in-law, Roger Fallek. Cathy is survived by her husband, Dr. Joseph Bellafiore, her daughters, Christina Bellafiore-Fallek, Toni Jo “T.J.” Bellafiore and JoAnn (Tim) York, and her favorite grandson, Timothy Joseph “T.J.” York; brother, Steve (Philomena) Badami, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be at 3 p.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 26th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS. (The service will also be live streamed.) A private family entombment will be on Saturday, June 27th at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in her name to EWTN Catholic TV (https://ewtnmission.com) or the Covenant House for children (https://www.covenanthouse.org). Both organizations meant a lot to Cathy.

TJ - I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beautiful mother -- she was certainly a beauty on the outside but more importantly I am sure she was a beauty on the inside (mother like daughter I am sure). Anyways -- I heard the news from our travel buddies and I wanted to reach out. Be kind and patient with yourself. Grief takes on many stages and it's almost a gift to go through them all. Be well my travel friend.

My love & prayers are with all of the Bellafiore family. Cathy was a loving, kind and fun woman. I remember meeting her and her hubby, Joe when they visited TJ in CA at USD. They took us out to dinner where I got to experience how a true Italian family interacts at dinner time. It was fantastic and Cathy along with Joe, always made me feel welcome and part of the family. Rest with the Angels dear Cathy. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I’m so very sorry. I loved Cathy and her delightful smile. She was gracious in sharing her skin care products with me and with that I was able to have a friendship with her that I will miss. She was so kind and loving to anyone who knew her. She was and is so beautiful and she loved Jesus. She is alive and well and praise the Lord we will see her again. I pray the comfort that only Holy Spirit can give during this time of mourning for her husband and family who she loved so much. My heart is heavy for you all. God bless you all!

Best childhood friend of JoAnn ,St Louis ,Missouri

I have such fond memories of spending so many days and sleepovers with Joanne! Mrs. Bellafiore as she was known to me, was always so upbeat and energetic like Joanne! It was clear how much Joanne and her family loved her! She was also my volleyball coach for middle school. She was amazing with keeping us motivated and knew her stuff! Her spunk and energy was felt by all of us girls and I’m sure we were not easy at times to coach, but she always kept her calm. I know how much her family loved her and she will be missed by all she touched. Praying for her peace in Heaven watching over her family and her family’s peace of mind at this time. Love Jacque
