Sep 06, 1962---May 15, 2026

Brian, beloved husband to Lisa, devoted father to Tyler, and cherished Poppy to his three grandchildren Connor, Scarlett, and Beckett, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, at the age of 63. He was a man who touched many lives and leaves behind a wide circle of dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Brian was born on September 6, 1962, in Marshalltown, Iowa to F. Raymond Adams and Barbra Adams.  He grew up in Trenton, Missouri where he attended Trenton High School and was actively a part of FFA (formerly known as Future Farmers of America) and ran track.  He also enjoyed the time that he spent working alongside his dad at their John Deere store.

Brian earned an Architectural degree at Kansas State University and built a distinguished career in Architecture. In 1989 Brian went to work for WNB Architect.  Over his 37 years with them he had a variety of projects that he worked on.  He was an architect whose work helped shape the YMCA of Greater Kansas City for more than 30 years. Brian designed twelve of the YMCA facilities, as well as the Challenger Sports Complex - places that have welcomed, strengthened, and inspired countless children, families, members, and communities across our region.

In 2023 Brian joined Next Generation Recreation where he discovered a new passion for playground equipment.  There, he built meaningful friendships and was welcomed with open arms as part of the Next Gen family, something that meant so much to our family as well.

In 1987, he married Lisa and together they built a life filled with happiness. Brian enjoyed spending time with Tyler and watching him grow up; it made his heart so full.  It was hard to think his heart could grow any fuller until Connor, Scarlett and Beckett came along.  He cherished them and was so proud of each of them.

Brian is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, son, Tyler Adams (Sara Adams) of Shawnee, Kansas, 3 grandchildren; Connor, Scarlett and Beckett, Mother, Barbra Adams of Trenton, Missouri, Sisters, Kate Melles (Mike) of Kansas City, Missouri and Laurie Stevenson of Trenton, Missouri. Mother-in-law Charlene Goss of Olathe, Sister-in-law Kelly Berthelsen (Andy) of Olathe and Brother-in-Law Brad Goss (Debbie) of Olathe.  Brian had many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that he loved very much.  He leaves behind many cherished friends. Brian was preceded in death by his father F. Raymond Adams and his father in-law James Goss.

A Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Street, Lenexa, Kansas 66215.  Visitation at 10:00 am and Service at 11:00 am.
