My heart goes out to Joanna’s family and friends.i met Joanna back in the 80’s where we both worked at the Hallmark store on the Plaza. I used to emboss ribbon and when there was a quinceañera, Joanna would call on me to help her out. When I came out as Gay, Joanna was there for me, no judgement or care and of course laughter. She was a great friend and we have always kept in contact. Through my travels, living in various cities and my last move to Mexico. Once during Dia de los Muertos i med a lovely girl dressed as La Calavera Catrina - I got Joanna on the phone as this young woman’s last name was Palacio. Then recently I discovered an upscale leather purse store here in Mexico called Palacio’s. One of my other close friends is Joanna’s cousin Anita Barrera and John and all her family. I know Joanna always brought laughter and light with her to all that she did and made people happy and feel at home. She will be missed greatly. When my Mom & sister passed away 5 years ago a couple of weeks apart, I called on Joanna for help as I was ready to end my life. Joanna told how important I am to others and to her. She was a wonderful support and shoulder to cry on. She told me that after the third year you will begin to feel better. I told her I was afraid of forgetting them and she said “that wont happen, later you will tell stories of them, you will never forget them” then about 3 and a half years later I called Joanna to let her know how amazing she is and how helpful along with therapy, but if was Joanna helping me through making life better for myself. I love Joanna and I will miss our texting and phone calls. Hearing her voice and next year for Dia de los Muertos I will add Joanna to my ofrenda along with my Mom, sister & grandma. Que Dios la guarde en su corazón y ambos cuiden a la familia. Love and respect from her white gay friend Bryan

Her spirit and soul is in Heaven with Jesus. What we see is the empty body that houses the soul and spirit until Jesus raises her/ours renovated bodies to house our spirit and soul again. We will have the same invincible body He had when His Father raised Him from the dead. Able to pass thru walls, appear instantly at another location like Philip who baptize the eunuch, Acts 8: 26-40. Yet Jesus showed he was also able to eat food like humans. We who remain need to make sure we're qualified to go on His first pick up in the clouds, like your Mother, JoAnna...

I am sorry to hear of your passing Johanna. You will now be with your Mom and Dad, as well as our Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts and your dear friends. You were always there to assist me when you worked at the State of Missouri as you took away the fear from licensing! My family also valued your words of support when my Mother and of course father and sister passed. I pray that you find peace with our Father, and that God assist your family in healing from this tragic loss. May you rest in peace and please say hello to my My Mom, Dad and Renee when you see them!

My cousins, I did cry when I heard of my cousins passing. The tears are for the emptiness you must feel without her here. I was never one to make a big deal about my birthday, but the sure thing every year was the phone call wishing each other a happy birthday. For we shared the same birthday. I found out years later so did our Moms. I pray God blesses all of you with strength right now. I am so so sorry Fred, she loved you and her children and it surely showed all her life.
