Timothy Nay, 80, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM Friday, August 8, at St. Michael the Archangel, 14251 Nall Ave., Leawood, KS. Burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Overland Park, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Wounded Warrior Project or Honor Flight.
Tim was born June 21, 1945, in Wichita Falls, TX to Albert Nay and Helen Weaver. Tim and his brother, Ted, lived there until his parents divorced, and Helen moved them to Paola, KS where they stayed with their Grandmother Weaver. They remained in Paola until Helen married Max Wood and they moved to Louisburg. Helen and Max had two more children, Carrie and Joe. Tim completed high school there and then moved to Kansas City.
In 1965 Tim married Mary Sloan who he had known since grade school. After dating a year they were married on May 29, 1965. In June of 1966, he joined the Army National Guard in Paola, KS. In 1968 he received his orders for Vietnam and he arrived there on New Year's Day of 1969. Tim was wounded in March and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart. In May, he was reassigned to Korea where he remained during the rest of his tour arriving home in November of 1969.
Tim retired from Black & Veatch in 2003 but soon after became the Facilities Manager at St. Michael the Archangel Parish school in Leawood. He worked there for three years and said it was one of his most enjoyable jobs working around all the kids.
He was preceded in death by his mother Helen, father, Albert, step-father Max, brothers Ted and Joe.
Tim is survived by his sister Carrie, wife Mary, sons Todd (Georgia) and Tony, and daughter Jennifer (Brendan). his grandchildren Jessie (Ryan) Charpentier, Justin Hutmacher, Thomas Nay, Jesse Hutmacher, Lilly Mick, and Jack Mick; great-grandchildren Carter Hendrickson, and Sloan Charpentier.
