Helen Joyce (Bales) Mills of Mission, Kansas passed away July 22nd, 2025 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, with her husband by her side.

Joyce was born November 18, 1934 to William Earl and Helen Elaine (Spurlock) Bales, in Kansas City, Missouri. While “retired” she edited the Old Olathe Naval Air Museum (OONAM) monthly newsletters, joined the Turner Lions and served as president, riding in the Turner Days parade as Grand Marshal, and hosting their annual garage sale for many years. She volunteered her time at the Argentine Food Kitchen and the Youth Friends organization in the Turner school district. What a fun , get things done lady. Her leadership in the Turner Lions was great for our community but also provided friendship and fun. I can’t remember her without a smile and David by her side helping others. I feel blessed to have been a part of her world.

David, I am truly blessed to have met you and Joyce. She was quite a wife, and your love for her was very evident. Kathy and I will be in prayer for you in this difficult time. We rest confident that she is in heaven, and we will see her again someday. Paul wrote in 1 These 4 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words Love you brother Pete
