John Michael Gadwood, 41, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on July 18, 2025. A lineman by trade, John was known not just for his hard work, but for the way he lived—with heart, humor, and never hesitated to lend a hand. He made everyone around him feel like family.
He is survived by his son, John M. Gadwood Jr., and his beloved grandson, Lukas Gadwood. He also leaves behind his father, Robert (Tina) Gadwood; mother, Sally (Larry) Tremain; and his grandmother, Barbara Gadwood.
John’s memory will also live on through his siblings: Bobby (Jodalyn) Gadwood, Beau (Kim) Gadwood, Thomas (Brittany) Tremain, Christian Tremain, Timothy (Lauren) Tremain, and Sadie (Kelso) Klein, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Preceded in death by grandmother, Peggy Stout; grandfather, James Stout; grandmother, Bonnie Gadwood-Alden; grandfather, Robert W. Gadwood.
Those who knew John will remember his big heart, his contagious laugh, and undeniable amount of empathy. He wouldn’t hesitate to give you his last dollar or shirt off his back. He touched the hearts and souls of everyone he encountered. John loved anything that had to do with food and especially BBQ. He was a sports fanatic, loved music and most of all loved the serenity and solitude of nature.
A visitation will be 9:30-10:30 am on Saturday, July 26th at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS with the Funeral Services starting at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at Union Monticello Cemetery, 75th and Gleason, Shawnee, KS.
John will be deeply missed, but his love and spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.
