Mar 26, 1966---Jul 13, 2025

Christine Lynn Dittman, 59, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at Christopher House Hospice in Austin, Texas, after a courageous and grace-filled battle with ALS—her strength and spirit that will be remembered by all who knew her.

Born on March 26, 1966, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Christine was the beloved daughter of Olive and Howard Howell. She spent her early years in Overland Park before moving to Springfield, Missouri, in 1990, where she raised her three sons with deep love and devotion. In 2007, she relocated to Round Rock, Texas, where her warmth, kindness, and unwavering positivity continued to touch the lives of everyone she met.

Christine is survived by her loving husband, Mark; her sons Brandon (Jodi), Chad, and Adam (Chelsie); and her cherished grandchildren Seana, Peyton, Elliott, and Cooper. She is also survived by her sisters Linda and Phil, and her brothers Rick, Bruce, Jack, Mark, and Paul. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Olive Howell; her father-in-law, Richard Kramer; and her brother, Leon Howell.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Christine’s life at a visitation on Sunday, July 20th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kansas. A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 21st, at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th St., Shawnee, Kansas. Committal service will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Rd., Lenexa, Kansas.

In honor of Christine’s legacy and her fight against ALS, donations can be made to the ALS Association.

As a tribute to Christine’s generous and compassionate spirit, the family shares this poem by Merrit Malloy:

When I die, give what’s left of me away
To children and old men that wait to die.
...
Love doesn’t die, people do.
So, when all that’s left of me is love,
Give me away.

Dear Mark, Helen and I were heartbroken to hear about Christine’s passing. Please accept our deepest condolences. Having known you both, I can’t imagine what strength, love and grace you shared through such a difficult journey. ALS is a cruel disease, but the way you stood by her, cared for her, and honored her is nothing short of extraordinary. That kind of devotion is rare— and deeply moving. I know there are no words that can ease this loss, but We hope you find comfort in the memories you built together and the love that will always remain. If there’s anything we can do —please don’t hesitate to reach out. We won’t be able to attend the services, but know you are in our hearts, our thoughts and in our prayers. With heartfelt sympathy, Mike and Helen Golebiowski

I’ve heard so many stories about Christine over the years, and it was always clear what an incredible woman she was. She was the foundation of her family. Strong, steady, and full of love. She stood by Mark through every chapter of their journey and gave everything she had to their family. Even without meeting her, I felt the impact she had. The strength of their family and the love they share are a reflection of who she was. My deepest condolences to Mark, the family, and everyone who loved her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Wishing you peace, comfort, and strength in the days ahead.
