Michelle Lee Bolen, 47, passed peacefully in her Roeland Park home on April 10th, 2025. Born to Michael Bolen and Vicki Garcia on May 24th, 1977 at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, Michelle grew up the oldest of three sisters. She spent her early years between Wellsville, Kansas, and Houston, Texas. With large extended families on both sides, Michelle created strong friendships with cousins, aunts, and uncles. Her tender and compassionate nature was evident early in caring for aging grandparents and led to her career in nursing.
Michelle graduated from Pittsburg State University’s School of Nursing in 2000. Her healthcare career started at Olathe Medical Center, first in the kitchen, where she worked through school, and then in the Critical Care Unit after graduation. She pursued her dreams as a nurse clinician at the University of Kansas Hospital in the Medical ICU, then as a Nursing Administrative Coordinator, and then at the Zamierowski Institute for Experiential Learning. In her many years of nursing, she influenced and developed scores of nurses, physicians, and healthcare professionals.
However, her true passion was family. Michelle married John D. Weber on November 8th, 2008. Her “life’s work”, as she would say, was in raising her and John’s three daughters. Her Catholic faith being central to laying a strong foundation for the girls, she devoted countless hours to volunteering at St. Agnes Catholic School in the kitchen, auction planning, teacher luncheons, and delivering meals to families. She and John led the Girl Scout Troop #5179, attending camps and leading many girls in projects and awards. Michelle modeled the qualities of life she wanted for her daughters.
Michelle is survived by her husband, John Dale Weber; daughters, Emerson, Callahan, and Campbell Weber; father and stepmother, Michael and Sue Bolen; and Sisters, Amber Garcia, Crystal Moyer, and Ashley Gray. Nieces and Nephews, Isabelle, Ella, Clara, Maggie, Oliver, Molly, Henry, Emmett, Sean, Tierra and Eric, Ruby, Katie, Angie, Sania and Logan, Charlotte, Abigail, Alexander, Aaron, Summer, Dianna and a grand-niece Alanna . She was preceded in death by her mother Vicki Garcia Bolen, stepfather Bruce Nestleroad, and nephews Kyle and Jacob Weber.
