Eleanor received a full scholarship to nursing school, but chose a different path. Eleanor married David Shore, and together they resided in Kansas City, KS, raising their four wonderful children. Throughout her life she maintained and valued a close friendship with Julia Feiring and Joyce Vaught.
Eleanor devoted her early years to caring for her children, staying home until they were school-aged. She also provided childcare for the Vaught children during this time. When her youngest child began school, Eleanor embarked on a new chapter in her life, working as a pharmacy assistant at Thrift Drug.
A woman of deep faith, Eleanor and David raised their children in the White Church Christian Church, where both served as deacons. Eleanor rededicated her life to God and was baptized a second time in her 60s. Eleanor's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, and she eventually fulfilled her lifelong dream of returning to school and earning an associate degree in nursing from Kansas City KS Community College.
Eleanor's brother Billy always called her Jane, a testament to the close and loving relationship they shared. As their parents aged, Eleanor became their caregiver, providing them with compassionate support until their passing.
Family was always at the center of Eleanor's heart. She cherished her 10 grandchildren, proudly watching them grow and often spending time with them at the library, Perkins, Furrs Cafeteria, the Renaissance Festival and many other activities. The joy of welcoming 18 great-grandchildren into the family brought Eleanor immense happiness, and she delighted in watching them flourish.
Eleanor enjoyed reading, working on jigsaw puzzles, and participating in the Red Hat Club, where she formed friendships and shared laughter.
Eleanor Jane Shore leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service to others. Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed.
