Aug 21, 1946---Mar 13, 2025

John A. Behen, 78, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

He was born August 21, 1946, in Kansas City, KS to Jack and Agnes (Aiduk) Behen who instilled his love of his Irish heritage.  John was an Electrical Engineer Transmission designer retiring from the Board of Public Utilities in 2007 after 38 years.  He met the love of his life, Jeni, at the Wyandot Swim Club where he impressed her with his multi medal winning skills for diving which earned him a scholarship at the University of Kansas. He was an avid drag racer and loved working on cars which was soon replaced by his four children that he protected fiercely. He was the best backyard snow igloo builder, softball pitch caller/catcher, water skier, root beer float maker, and handyman that can fix anything.

The stroke he suffered 18 years ago stole the life he should have had but true to his nature he never gave up fighting. He was the best father/ husband ever that we will miss dearly.

A private family memorial service was held in his honor per his wishes.

John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jennifer (Seeman) Behen, four children; Erin (Jay) Doleshal, Kelly Behen, Brenna (Jeff) Palmer, Sean Behen, sister Patricia (Bob) Tieszen, eight grandchildren;  Colin, Chloe, Aidan, Quentin, Johnny, Lauren, JJ, Preston and many extended family and friends.
