Mark Stephen Collins, 69, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away March 3, 2025. The Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. with visitation following until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 10, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208. The Funeral Liturgy will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
Mark was born September 15, 1955, in Kansas City, KS, the fourth son of John and Mary Collins. Mark graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1973 an attended Washburn University in Topeka, KS, where he graduated in 1977 with degrees in philosophy and political science. Mark went on to attend Washburn School of Law, graduating in 1980. He passed the Kansas Bar Exam in September 1980 and went on active duty with the Air Force in November 1980 as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG). Mark left active duty in 1984 but continued his Air Force career through the reserves and the Kansas Air National Guard until his retirement in November 2008. During his Air Force career, among others, Mark participated in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Nobel Eagle. Mark was a blood donor and volunteered at St. Ann’s for the Support the Troops, which boxed food and toiletries for the Troops.
Mark and Elaine were married on May 26, 1979 and went on to raise three wonderful children: Amy, Matthew, and Marianne. Mark leaves grandchildren: Brooke, Amaya, William, Ayden, and Patrick.
