Gordon hired me out of Kansas State in 1993. I worked at Capital Electric and admired the way he treated employees. When I decided to move on to something new after 6 1/2 years I went to see Gordon and he handed me an extra weeks pay and told me that I worked hard and he was sorry to see me go but happy for me. After 16 years I returned to Capital Electric as President and Gordon made sure to congratulate me. Gordon was an inspiration to many people at Capital Electric and especially myself to model how he inspired and treated people on a daily basis. I cannot say enough good things about the man and the legacy he has left us all with.

Dear Murle and family, I was so saddened to hear of Gordon's death. When you both entered a room you brightened up all those around you. Gordon was a great leader in all his endeavors, and his strong faith was a guiding light for his church and those that knew him. Gordon and Murle White are friends of my parents. We met at First Southern Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas in the mid 1960s. Over a lifetime Gordon has been my friend, confidant, and advisor. I caught my only trout with him in Pouder Canyon, CO. He taught me about electricity, and concrete and Jesus. Gordon and Murle came to my wedding and have remained lifetime friends. I came to Polecat Creek Ranch last spring to sit around the fire and enjoy his wisdom. I miss him.

My Brother You were one of a kind never will be another. Thank you for all that you were mainly my guiding light big brother. I knew you always had my back and supported me in my many adventures. We laughed, we cried and loved our special time together. You have left us quite a legacy in your published family history, “Great.” Not an hour goes by that I don't feel your loss an awful feeling. I know you are now with mom and dad having a wonderful time. Brother Barry

We moved in next door to Gordon and Murle over 15 years ago. I will never forget Gordon's resonating voice as he came over to welcome us so long ago. The White family made us feel safe and at home. Celebrated the birth of our first born, gave advice on gardening, raising chickens, told stories of the history of the Pomeroy neighborhood and their iconic school house, invited us to their annual fall potlucks and tractor rides. My children always gravitated to their yard, not only for the playground that they share with us, but to explore and look at the cows, and even relax and chat on the back porch with them. Best neighbors anyone could ever ask for. Gordon will be sorely missed, we send our sincere condolences to the family.

I’m so sorry for your loss, my deepest condolences. Gordon touched or influenced many lives, I count mine as one of those. As a young child growing up with Tim and Jodee just up the street I found myself in the White household frequently. Tim and I had many adventures, sleeping outside under tree branches as a fort, making and running telegraph between our houses, are just a few. In the background Gordon was there to support those adventures. When Tim and I tried to spend the night in our “tree-brush” fort it was cold but we weren’t deterred. I can only imagine Gordon and Murle worrying about us, eventually Gordon came out and told us to come inside. He let us make decisions and learn lessons. I recall the excitement of Tim and I being asked to roof the garage of the new house. Two young kids shown what to do and he left us to complete the job, I’m sure he peeked out a window frequently to see how we were doing. We were so proud of our accomplishment, however Gordon pointed out we should’ve stayed off the shingles as we worked up the roof. Oh, what a mess, most the shingles were scarred from our shoes. Although he expressed his disappointment he offered us encouragement and showed us how to do better next time. As an adult, with a family and young child I often recalled how Gordon and Murle influenced my adult life. I still think back on how Gordon provided such a positive influence and guidance in my adolescence. I will miss Gordon but I know he is with God. I will mourn but am thankful for the opportunity and privilege to know him and thankful for his patience and guidance.
