Carol Ann Altenhofen, 88, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Carol was born June 15, 1936, in Kansas City, KS to Frank J. and Ann (Hornick) Muraski.
Carol was a devoted mother, cherished friend, and woman of unwavering faith. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She lived a life of kindness, patience, and thoughtfulness, leaving an enduring impact on all who knew her.
Her faith was her foundation, and she found comfort in praying the rosary and novenas daily—until dementia no longer allowed it. Even in her later years, her gentle spirit and deep love for her family continued to shine through.
A devoted mother, she was always present in her children’s lives. She served as a Bluebird leader, a dedicated room mother, and was always in the stands cheering at sporting events;always there to console and kiss away the injuries and nurse our sickness. She was a steadfast source of love, comfort and encouragement. As her children grew, she pursued her own dreams, fulfilling her lifelong aspiration of becoming an entrepreneur. She became the co-owner of Altenhofen Retail Liquor Store, where she successfully managed day-to-day operations for 27 years with dedication and grace.
Carol will be remembered for her warmth, her selflessness, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and valued. She was a faithful friend, a loving mother, and a compassionate soul whose legacy of love and perseverance will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is now reunited in eternal peace with her husband of 40 years Kenneth E. Altenhofen who passed away in 1997, her parents Frank and Ann and infant twin sisters Darlene and Florene. She is survived by her children Karen Altenhofen, KCMO Brian and his wife Summer Altenhofen,Anna, TX sister Norine Muraski Morris Allen TX, granddaughters Jessica and Haley Altenhofen Anna, TX, and many nieces, nephews and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.
