This wonderful young man was a very close friend of my daughter, Katie DeAngelo, in high school and he was frequently at my home. He was one of the favorites of all of my daughter’s friends. We adored him. We also loved his parents. My deepest condolences to you all. This is devastating news and it fills “me with sorrow. All of us have wonderful memories of him and we are sending our love.

I was devastated to hear of Mike’s passing. Mike (or Mikey as I knew him back in the day) and I were good friends during my brief time living in Overland Park. I have so many great memories of making crazy movies, playing basketball, and generally getting into trouble with Mike throughout the 7th & 8th grades. We had kept in touch throughout the years and would occasionally reminisce about those middle school days that now seem so long ago. Rest in peace, old friend.

Mike was a great guy and good friend. I first met him when we were both attending Pitt State. We were both avid WWE fans and would always talk about wrestling when we ran into each other. I'll truly miss him.

I was devastated to hear of the loss of my cousin Mike. He was always affectionately known to his Burton cousins as Mikey. We had great times growing up during countless family reunions. What happened at the reunions sometimes stayed at the reunion. Haha! We will miss him and pray for our cousin Gwen & family.

I hate hearing this...I was looking forward to maybe seeing him at the Conference tournament as he usually made an appearance to cheer on the Gorilla Women's Basketball team. We were buddies in college and randomly stayed in touch on FB and ran into each other occassionally around Pitt State events and KC. I'll miss ya buddy! RIP you were definitely one of the good guys! Many great memories!

MP, missing you so much already. Thanks for all the wonderful memories except your singing of the “drunken sailer” song on those rare occasions when navy did manage to beat my Army team. Thanks for putting up with me during all my flip phone years. You once said that, for all the thousands of years man has been on earth, we were fortunate to live in the Mike Patterson Era. Yes, I was that fortunate.

There is so much I’ll miss about MP. My heart is broken. I’m happy that I still have some of his wit and humor saved on my phone to brighten my day. I do wish I had saved a recording of him singing “Anchors Aweigh” to us after Army-Navy games whenever Navy won. Watching sports won’t be the same in the Altieri household without MP’s insightful and fun texts. We will greatly miss him when we visit KC.

MPW- I was deeply saddened to hear we lost you over the weekend. You've left behind friends and family who will miss you dearly and your humor that made every situation a little bit brighter. Rest in peace, my friend. Until we meet again at the big Kelly’s in the sky. MBX PS: I bet you're up there trying to challenge the angels at bench press and showing them your best moves!

I buried my mother this year and I am still grieving. I cannot imagine the pain of the opposite situation. You have all of my condolences, well wishes, and good mojo. Mikey was special to me for a variety of reasons but mostly his smile and attitude of acceptance. He was a man among boys years before he had to be. I will miss his easy smile.

Gwen Mikey was one of a kind and a very special friend. We have enjoyed Mikey and his reminiscing with the boys through the years. Lots of laughter between Mikey and all three of our boys. He will be missed. Still doesn’t seem possible not to see that smile one more time. He was at the hospital when our first grandson Desmond was born. He held Desmond as a newborn. Memories we will cherish of your beautiful son. Our condolences, The Hinson Family

I remember when Mikey moved to our neighborhood in 3rd grade. He instantly became part of the neighborhood group of boys...they played baseball together, did Scouts and many other activities together. Mike was always a joy to have in and out of our house. My son chose to go to a different high school, so we lost track of many of the boys after that, but Mikey and I became facebook friends and over the years had many conversations and shared comments on photos. My husband planned a birthday party for my 70th birthday and I posted on fb that anyone in the area that would like to join us, they were more than welcome. My fondest memory of Mikey was when he surprised me...he arrived at my party with a big hug, a huge smile and a Happy Birthday!! He touched my heart so deeply!! Unfortunately because of health issues, we will not be able to attend on Saturday, but send our deepest condolences to Gwen and all Mikey's family. Our hearts will be there with you! Mike was a regular at the bar I worked at through college. Though that was years ago, we have stayed connected on social media and frequently message each other about music and birds. I recently got really into backyard bird watching and it turns out, Mike was a fan of birds too. We talked birds and blues and I was trying to talk him into coming on a Blues Cruise as my guest. A sweet soul who will be greatly missed! I'll look for you in the sky, Mike.
