Feb 28, 1930---Jan 26, 2025

Dora Lee (Wommack) Schaefer, 94, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus, Sunday, January 26, 2025.

She was born February 28, 1930, in Walnut Grove, MO.  Dora Lee was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved life, loved the Lord, and never met a stranger.  She shared the Good News of Jesus at every opportunity--including asking every spam caller if they knew the Lord!  As many spam calls as she received daily, the Lord surely must have been sending them her way.

Dora Lee was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS in her earlier years, then a member of Open Door Baptist in Kansas City, KS, and in her later years, White Church Christian Church in Kansas City, KS.

Dora Lee also loved flowers and coped with the loneliness of widowhood by working in her flower beds several hours a day.  She was especially delighted several years ago when the garden association awarded her “Home of the Month” because of her lovely flower beds.  After her health failed, and she could no longer work in her flower beds, she had to be satisfied with gazing at the many pictures of flowers on her walls.  She loved the color pink, and every room of her home was decorated in some shade of pink!

She was preceded in death by her father, Ulie Edwards, and mother, Mable (Haun) Edwards, her brother, Robert Edwards, and her sister, Norma Jean (Edwards) Chastain, her first husband of 49 years, Mack Neal Wommack, and second husband, James Schaefer.

Dora Lee is survived by her children, Janice Wommack, Jean Wommack Sheridan, and Joan Wommack Cliff (Bob); 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 6 great, great grandchildren.  She was always so excited about the birth of each and every child added to the family and prayed regularly for all her children and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1st at Fair Grove First Baptist Church, 220 S. Main St., Fair Grove, MO 65648, at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am, and a graveside service at Cedar Bluff Cemetery, Fair Grove, MO.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to White Church Christian Church, 2200 N. 85th St., Kansas City, KS 66106.
