Apr 07, 1949---Jan 08, 2025

Robert “Bob” Stone passed away peacefully in his home after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Patti King Stone, daughters Erin (Dennis) Kling, Emily Stone, son Stephen (Kate) Stone, grandchildren Anastasia McKessor (Dustin), Owen Kling, Bergen Stone, Bentley Stone, Samuel Stone, and sister Melanie (Bud) Nolker.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Stone, sister Sylvia Stone and his parents, George and Maurine Stone.

Bob was born and raised in Kansas City and attended St. Agnes and Bishop Miege. He did a tour in the US Army from 1967-1969 and was a Vietnam-era veteran.

He spent his early career at the Kansas City Star as a District Sales Manager for 17 years then as a Journeyman Meat Cutter for Ball’s Price Chopper for 23 years. Finally, he spent 3 seasons as a Tax Clerk for the Treaaury Department, Kansas City Campus.

Bob was a friend to many and was the most kind and gentle man. He was very creative and came from a family of artists. In his retirement years, Bob became skilled at creating metal and stone sculptures which are standing in many residential and commercial properties. Most notably,  “Manti” the Praying Mantis was on display in Roeland Park in 2014.

Bob was very charitable and in recent years spent time feeding the homeless with The Hunger Outreach Team at All Souls Unitarian Church.  We ask that donations be made in his honor to one of the following:  The Hunger Outreach Team at All Souls Unitarian Church KCMO allsoulskc.org,, Westport / Roanoke Food Pantry at Guardian Angels Church KCMO guardianangelskc.org, Jacksonville Hope Lodge - American Cancer Society, Cancer.org

A friend of Bob's summed him up perfectly by saying, “our world is definitely a better place with the kindness trails he left behind.”

Surrounded by his loving family, Bob was buried in Highland Cemetery, Prairie Village.   Please join us as we celebrate Bob's amazing life at the InterUrban ArtHouse in Downtown Overland Park at 8001 Newton Drive on Sunday, January 19th  at 11am.

Patty, Erin, Emily, Steve and all of Bobs family My deepest condolences to all of you for the loss of such a great and kind man. If tight hugs could take away your heartaches, I would send you a thousand. I like the quote “grief is the price we pay for love”, and how blessed you all were to experience that love. I pray for peace and comfort for all of you. Christy aka Crick.
