Aug 06, 1959---Dec 26, 2024

David Allen Batt was born in August 1959 to Howard Sr. and Margaret (Reimers) Batt in Burt, Iowa at the home of their local doctor.  David was the youngest of four children.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burt.  David (Dave) attended Burt Community School and graduated with the Class of 1977.  While in high school Dave participated in baseball, basketball, band and chorus.  Dave’s sense of humor and quick wit endeared him to many of those he met.

Following high school, Dave met and married Debi McLain.  They had daughter, Rene in 1981.  After Dave and Debi divorced, Dave relocated to Kansas City to attend DeVry.  While working for the QT Corporation, a coworker introduced him to Sharon McCarty and in 1986, they married.  Sharon had two teenage daughters, Lisa and Joeli, and Dave became a dad once again.

Dave’s career path changed in 1985, when he became a warehouse employee with Seal Rite in Fairfax district.  Eventually, Seal Rite became Huhtamaki and opened a new facility in DeSoto, Kansas.  Dave made the move with the company and ended a nearly 40-year career as a Logistics Coordinator.

Dave was a dedicated family man and enjoyed spending time with his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren doing all the things they loved.   He enjoyed many hobbies such as woodworking, traveling, reading, puzzles and golf.  In fact, Dave excitedly achieved a hole in one this year!  Dave was a born again Christian and he made a church family with the members of his Life Mission Church.  He enjoyed cooking with his men’s group at their retreats, sharing his knowledge of the scripture and mentoring youth in the church.

Dave endured a brief battle with cancer and passed surrounded by his loving family.  He is survived by his three daughters, Lisa (Kyle) Spencer and Joeli (Jay) Buckley of Kansas City and Rene (Aaron) McLain of Lake Havasu, AZ, brother, Howard Batt Jr. of Kewaunee, WI, sisters Barb (Steve) Taphorn of Algona IA and Cheryl Batt, Burt, IA, as well as 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Batt, his parents Howard Sr and Margaret Batt, his granddaughter Ashli Wonder, his favorite dog, Bruiser and other beloved extended family.

A Visitation from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6 at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS.  A Visitation will also be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7 with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. also at the Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa.

In lieu of flowers, family is asking that donations be made to support awareness, early detection, research and education for neuroendocrine tumor (NET) cancer: Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network

I’ve known and worked with Dave for close to 20 years. My deepest regret is that I never got to meet him and hug him. He made my day with his positive words and he was always making me smile. Years ago I would joke with him telling him I was going to send him a Bat Phone since he was my go to when I needed him. He was so wise. To his family, he spoke about all of you and spoke about spending more time with you and plans that he had. Loved you all so much. He would send me a message in the morning, good morning sunshine. I am saddened by how it ended. He had so many plans. Sunshine rest in peace. Hugs Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends Dave you were simply the best!

I was on vacation and return yesterday when I found out about this passing. This is a great loss. I had the pleasure of working with Dave for 20 years with Huhtamaki. I work from Rhode Island so we never met face to face in all these years but that did not stop us from having a great work experience. He was the I went to when I needed anything from Huhtamaki. His sense of humor is something I will always treasure. This year I would have met him for the first time since he and his family were coming to the Northeast. I was looking so forward to showing him and his family my hometown. This beautiful soul of a man will be greatly missed. May you rest in peace with our Heavenly Father my friend.

Wow! What a man of God, I met Dave at the Get Away a couple years ago, I saw his heart for service, always asking how I was doing with a smile and words of encouragement. Last I saw him was the last Real Men always a joy in his walk. I know he’s walking in glory now, praise God for his testimony. Condolences to his family I often talked about our home state Iowa.

Prayers of peace and healing to Dave’s family during this time of grief. What started as a work relationship quickly became one of friendship with a mutual love of music and films not to mention a slightly odd sense of humor. Dave was my rock when my son passed and always had an ear or shoulder when I needed one. His love of family and faith made him a truly one in a million. I will miss our conversations but know we will meet again at our Father’s table. Again praying for Dave’s family during this most difficult time.

My sympathy and prayers go out to Dave's family. We had been seeing more of Dave at family funerals. We were fortunate to have a cousin reunion in June several years ago. I had submitted pictures from that time. May our Heavenly Father give you strength, comfort and peace as you go forward leaning on Him.

The news of Dave passing away really tugged at my heart strings, especially for his daughters and all of his family and close friends who are hurting right now. Dave always had a wry smile on his face, as if he had a secret that he couldn't wait to tell you, and a mischievous smile without mischief in mind! He was a very kind, genuine person and I enjoyed our conversations throughout the years. You couldn't help but stop to talk to Dave when you saw him...and I alwayswalked away with a smile on my face. Happiness was the type of energy he exuded. Being in Logistics all those years, I have no doubt that he took the best path to heaven. Rest in peace, Dave.

Dave was my friend & ex-husband ,Lake Havasu City ,Arizona

Hi Everyone! Dave Batt was my friend from the day we first met back in 1979. Dave, whom I renamed Mr.Fox, was a loving caring person to everyone who crossed his path of life! He had a kind gentle spirit that was always ready to help, and never judge! Dave saved my dog "Suzi Fox" after she had eaten a poisonous ball of glycerin from the cloth diaper pail. Dave's new beautiful corderoy jacket was ruined from the pink pepto bismal he'd poured down her throat to save her! I thought wow this must be love, he must be the ONE, and we were married shortly after that! The arrival of our darling lil Rene was a blessing to us both!! Dave was a natural loving Father to all 3 of my kids, Jon, Jene, and our Rene too! He lavished his love equally on each of them! After a couple years of growing apart, we talked about it, then parted on good terms wishing each other to find our true soulmates and complete happiness! A few years later Dave called to share his "good news" with me! He had found his Sweetheart Sharon, who also had a precious family of daughters. Father Dave was anxious to step right in to take care of all of them and bear the responsibility for his new Family, as if he was their natural Father! Dave dearly loved his new wife and his new daughters! As years "passed by" and "life" continued on, his first daughter Rene, now an adult, sought out to find her Father whom she had missed so much for so long, to see if they had any connection of "love" to still be shared together!? To her excitement her Father's Love for her was as strong as ever, as if they'd never been apart, and they instantly bonded into their Father Daughter relationship that had awaited them both all those years! Both of them enjoyed unending phone calls and many visits from Dave driving across country to the West Coast to pursue his Fatherly relationship with Rene and also his Granddaughter Nikki! His kind gentle loving spirit flowed endlessly between them! All of us were thrilled with them being reunited! He still loved all of his Family from Sharon but also had such an abundance of love within him, to outpour from his precious heart onto Rene & Nikki and all the rest of us from his past too! Dear wonderful Dave, Mr Fox, my Friend You will be dearly missed!!!!!! I can't believe You have left us so quickly! But I also know how special You are to God! God loves You Dave, and he wasn't going to let You suffer! God opened heaven for Your arrival "too soon"! Too soon for Rene, and all the rest of us who are still here, but not too soon for God, becuz God isn't "early" nor "late" , when it's our time to meet him he's "right on time"! As Heaven's Angels Celebrate You Dave, we mourn the loss of You dear Mr.Fox Dave Batt! You are a loving blessing to all who knew You! Until we meet again in heaven dear Mr.Fox my heart pours tears along with all of your Family becuz You are so dearly missed already! All my love, your friend Debi

Dave's Friend, and ex ,Lake Havasu City ,Arizona

Hello dear Family & Friends of Dave Batt. I want to share my condolences for our dear beloved Dave Batt. Heaven shocked all of us. Dave was so young and handsome as ever. Who knew that another Heavenly Celebration was about to happen? Only God has this special date planned for each one of us. The Bible says, "God isn't early nor late, that He's right on time." But for the rest of us it's still a huge shock. What a loving Godly inspiration Dave was for all who crossed his path of life. He never stopped giving of himself. His Spirit continually poured out agape love to everyone. When Dave came to Havasu to reunite with his daughter Rene and granddaughter Nikki, it was as if he had been with us throughout these past years without any lapse of time. He fell right back into the arms of our Family, lavishing agape love on everyone. Rene was thrilled to have her Father now in her life and Nikki's again. She had desperately longed for him through the years. But God blessed Dave with another Family whom he also loved so dearly and embraced with his precious love and leadership. He equally loved his new daughters Jolie and Lisa and the entire growth of their Families. Dave's heart was pure, and kind. He was a pillar of God's strength and leadership. He was a true Friend and blessing to all who crossed his path of life. He was never mean, never spoke ill of anyone, though he knew the shortcomings of many. Instead he prayed for everyone without judgement. Thank you Dave for who you were and who are. I know we will be together again in Heaven when each of our "Appointment with God" is up. But dear sweet Dave you are so dearly missed by all of us still down here............ May God's blanket of healing love wrap around each one of you as you're missing Dave, as we here in Havasu are greiving and missing him too......... (The horrific snowstorm out there stopped Rene and Jene's plane from taking off to get there today, but they both, along with the rest of our Az Family, joined in today together with all of you through this beautiful internet Service.) Our hearts and prayers are there with each one of you........ Sincerely Debi, Dave's Friend

Dave lives in love. I thought I was going to read about his retirement announcement when I learned that he went to the ultimate retirement. He fulfilled his mission of service in teaching, which included allowing one to be themself and to stand in observation from this beautiful space of unconditional love and compassion for being. Thank you Dave for being part of my journey. As I work through my grief - because life has changed without you physically here, I intend for that breathe of rejoicing with you in the joy of being alive physically and spiritually. For Dave's family - May your hearts heal in the time they need knowing he's is still there loving you on this journey. May love's gentleness envelope you. All of my love. Linda

To the family of Dave - I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been working for Huhtamaki for 25 years, but started Customer Svc 3 years ago. Dave was one of the first to welcome me to the group. Every morning he would make his rounds to tell everyone good morning. I always was in pretty early and so was Dave. I always heard Dave across my cubicle joking or chiming in on a story. He would have our group laughing non-stop daily. I'm really going to miss him. A few weeks before he passed, my family was going through some crazy stuff. He left the book "Psalm 91" on my desk to read. I'm going to make sure I read this book for him. He told me about how he rededicated his life to Christ. I know I will see him again which gives me hope. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. Dave was one of a kind!

Dave and I met many years ago when he worked for seal rite. I was a Freight Broker with a local corporation and Dave was working in Traffic. Through that relationship Dave and I became what I would consider Friends. When I opened my own Business in 2005 Dave was a driving force that allowed me the opportunity to keep working with the Folks at Huhtamaki. Dave has always been great to me and my business. My company simply would not exist had it not been for this great Man! He will be missed greatly! My Thoughts and Prayers are with Dave, His Family and his extended Family at Huhtamaki!

I attended 13 years of school and graduated with Dave in 1977. There were only 20 kids in our class so we all got to know each other pretty well. Dave was a good student and a pretty good athlete. But where he really excelled (especially in high school) was in humor. He was so funny and fun to be around! As often happens we lost touch after graduation and went our separate ways, but I will always remember Dave fondly. My condolences to his family during this difficult time.
