Nov 21, 1992---Dec 11, 2024

Nick was born November 21th, 1992 to Andrew P. (Andy) and Jennifer S. (Yoakum) Bartolac in Kansas City, KS.  He was the oldest of two sons of Andy and Jennifer and was full of joy and energy.  Nick attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and was a 2011 graduate of Bishop Ward High School.  He then attended Pittsburg State University until finding his passion and attended Kansas State University Aerospace and Technology Campus, Salina, KS., seeking a pilot’s license.

Nick had an infectious laugh that mirrored his often mischievous smile and exhibited a true kindness to all he met – especially little kittens and animals.  He was loved not just by his parents and brother Jimmy but all of his aunts, uncles and especially his numerous cousins.  Nick would do anything for anyone and was genuine in his thoughts, words and actions.  His instant humor and the twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes would charm all around him.

Nick played little league baseball, soccer, football, CYO football and High school baseball and  football. He loved the Royals and the Chiefs and was split between KSU football and KU Basketball.

Nick spent 10 years building a life in California where he surrounded himself with friends that supported him through his recovery efforts, and he supported them as well.  This is a testament to his steadfast attitude, charismatic personality and unrelenting resilience.

He leaves behind his loving parents Andy and Jennifer Bartolac (Basehor, KS), his younger loving brother Jimmy Bartolac (Basehor, KS), numerous aunts and uncles and a slew of cousins from both the Yoakum and Bartolac families.

Nick’s family would like to thank all of Nick’s friends and family friends that expressed their extreme sorrow, thoughts and prayers over the past few days.  Your condolences gave us the strength we needed to get through this ordeal.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 20 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1086 W. 94th St. Kansas City, KS.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Kitty City Kansas Rescue since Nick was a lover of cats and kittens and rescued several himself.

I had the pleasure of teaching Nick his senior year at Bishop Ward. He was a smart, funny young man, and he and I shared a special bond. In particular, I recall his volunteering to be the narrator in a Canterbury Tales "play." He wrote a very impressive introduction; I can still see him relishing the role. I am so deeply saddened to learn of his death. What a loss for all of you--and all who knew and loved him, including me. May he rest in peace. Sending all of you my most sincere sympathy and love.

Andy, Jennifer and Jimmy... Words are so inadequate at a time like this, but please know that we are so sorry for your family's unimaginable loss. Unfortunately for us, we did not know Nick very well, since we didn't meet your family until later in life, and Nick lived in California most of that time. He sounds like a young man with a larger-than-life personality who brought much joy to so many. You three, and Nick are in our thoughts and prayers. We sincerely hope that good memories and the thought of his great smile will help to ease your pain. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was unconditionally loved by his family.

Jennifer, Andy and Jimmy….we are at loss for words. There is nothing that we can say that will make you feel better. We lost a beautiful soul that we had the absolute privilege of watching him be born to all of our great memories at St. Pat’s. What an honor to have been in his life, as we had been in his parents lives for the last five decades. This entire community is heartbroken. Nick, you are flying with some fantastic angels. We are somewhat jealous. Yoakums and Bartolac’s, we are by your side every dreadful step of the way. We love you all crazy! Prayers for peace. With all our love, Sheri & Al

Keeping “Nick’s Mom” and “Nick’s Dad” and the rest of the family in my thoughts. Nick was a really dear friend of mine for many years at St. Pat’s and I have fond memories of sleepovers and duck hunting. Nick’s family was always so kind to me. I’m hoping for so much of the peace and comfort for them now that they gave me as a young man.

Jennifer, Andy, and Jimmy: Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this most difficult time. Driving Nick and Jimmy to school every morning to St. Patrick’s was always a treat. Nick was always full of conversation as we drove. One time there was a woman driving erratically in the car and I told Nick to look at the license plate as I called the police, he had quite the memory of remembering the plate number. He was smart, kind, and helpful always. May the Lord Jesus bring you all the comfort at the time you need it the most. I am truly sorry.

What a wonderful person you were. We had a great time helping out at the ice cream socials. You had fun doing everything with the kids and for the kids. I’m sorry you had to leave us. You had the biggest heart. You will be missed. May our Lord hold you tightly and never let you go. Your friend, Cathy
