James W. Pollock, 66, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024. The visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, December 18 at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS. Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 19, at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven. Jim was born January 3, 1958, in Kansas City, MO, the son of William and Gertrude (Hall) Pollock. Jim was a Boy Scout, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Jim graduated from Center High School, then went on to obtain his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri. After graduating, he became an officer in Prairie Village, KS for 2 years. In 1985 he became a police officer for KU Medical Center Police Department until 1995, at which time he joined the KCK Police Department. During his time with the KCKPD he was an FTO, member of the Crash Team, and specialized in working hit and run crashes. Jim retired from KCKPD in 2014. Jim was a proud member of FOP Lodge #4 for many years.
A German Shepherd lover, he was active in the Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS), volunteering at adoption events and fundraising. One thing about Jim, he loved his Shepherds. He leaves behind his best buddy, Major, who is lost without him.
Jim was preceded in death by both parents and brother Dennis Pollock. He is survived by wife Mary Pollock, sons Troy (Lin) and Mitchell Pollock. Brother Robert Pollock (Gretchen) and nephew Graham Pollock, and a host of extended family and friends.
