May 10, 1937---Dec 10, 2024

Shelby Beckham Haswell of Olathe, KS, went to join her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 10th 2024. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 pm Monday, December 16th at Porter Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to Cottey College, because she was a member of P.E.O, or the Salvation Army, in honor of her many hours of service.

Shelby was born May 10th, 1937 to Morris Beckham and Pearl Moody in Hartville, MO.  After living briefly in Wichita, her family moved to Springfield, MO.  While in Springfield, she attended Drury College and met her husband James Sherwood Haswell.  They were married for 64 years.  Their children are James Beckham (Elizabeth), Joseph Russell (Carolyn), and Francie Lorraine.  They have five lovely granddaughters - Lauren, Allison, Kathryn (Trevor), Jenna and Anna.

Jim and Shelby ran Beckwell International for 32 years.  When not working, she was taking care of kids, animals, and plants.  She loved all animals.  Many dogs, cats, horses, cows, chickens, ducks, geese, and even turtles benefited from her loving care over the years.  Shelby was also an avid gardener.  She had the greenest of thumbs and could grow any plant.  There was always a plant blooming somewhere in the house.  Her happy place was sitting on the deck with a dog in her lap, listening to the birds while surrounded by her plants and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Phillip Morris Beckham.
