Apr 30, 1937---Dec 04, 2024

Jan Marie (McNamara) Mickey, 87, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving children Michael Supple and Lori (Supple) Klopfenstein.

Jan was born on April 30, 1937 in Winthrop, Iowa, to Leo and Helena (Lena) McNamara. She was lovingly raised alongside her twin brother, John. She was a woman of great warmth, spirit and faith, cherished by all who knew her.

Jan’s early years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, were filled with the love of family, hard work, and a deep commitment to her community. She married Clarence Supple, with whom she had two children, Michael and Lori. Jan dedicated herself to supporting her kids as they pursued their education, both of whom would later graduate from the University of Iowa. Jan’s creative talents shone through in her work as a designer at JC Penney’s creating custom window treatments where she brought beauty and elegance to both residential and commercial spaces.

In the mid-1980s, Jan’s life took a new and joyful turn when she met her second husband, Bob Mickey, while designing window treatments for his secretary. Jan and Bob were married on January 4, 1986, and together they shared a life full of love, travel, and adventure.

After Bob’s passing in December 2001, Jan moved full-time to Fountain Hills, Arizona, where she embraced the warm desert climate and became deeply involved in the community. She was an active member of the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Fountain Hills, AZ  where she sang in the choir and practiced her strong Catholic faith. She was also involved with the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce where she loved supporting new local businesses.

Known for her love of shopping and entertaining, Jan’s gatherings were legendary—filled with laughter, warmth, and an energy that made everyone feel welcome. These events were extra special when Jan would share her love of music with her guests and treat them to a few songs on the piano.

As an extensive traveler, Jan enjoyed exploring the world, but also made sure to share her adventurous spirit with her friends and family. She took her children and grandchildren on many unforgettable trips, including Ireland, Europe, Russia and Africa, creating lasting memories.

Jan had a zeal for life that touched everyone she met. Her radiant smile, infectious laugh, impeccable sense of style, and boundless love for her family and friends will be missed beyond measure. Jan had a unique ability to make every person she encountered feel special and valued, and that is her enduring legacy.

Jan is survived by her son Michael (Sandee) Supple; her daughter Lori (Kevin) Klopfenstein; her grandchildren Monica (Chris) Enas, Rachel Supple, Sarah (fiance James Forrest) Supple, Jacob Klopfenstein, Katelyn (Eric) Wirth, Kallie Klopfenstein; great grandson, Theodore Wirth;  her twin brother, John (Phyllis) McNamara . She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Supple and Bob Mickey, and her parents.

A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Research Fund or Catholic Charities,  causes that were close to Jan’s heart.

Jan’s family and friends take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

To Jan's family, we offer our deepest sympathy. Jan was a neighbor when she lived in Fountain Hills, AZ. She was engaging and always had a great smile. She was up and out every day doing her morning walk. She was also a member of the Fountain Hills Ambassadors organization that celebrated the opening of new businesses in Town. May the memories of her wonderful life help to ease the pain of your loss. George and Judith Goodman

Mike & Lori, I was very sorry to hear about Jan's passing. I have some very distinct, happy moments growing up as the younger cousin being around you two and your mother.

Hello, I just wanted to let you know how much Jan will be missed and how sad I was to learn of her passing. My sister lives in Santa Marta where Jan lived. She’s been there since May of this year. I try to visit several times a week and visit with the other residents as well. I consider them part of our family as well. I always looked for her on every visit. She was beautiful inside and out. She enjoy seeing my grandkids when they visited 5 and 8. I wish you peace for this holiday and the new year. Gina
