John Oliver Hoffman was born April 10th, 1950, to Vincent and Erma Hoffman in Topeka, KS. He passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2024. No formal services are planned per John’s request. A Celebration of Life is to be held on Friday, November 15th at Johnny’s Tavern in Shawnee, KS (13131 Shawnee Mission Parkway) from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
John graduated from Topeka High School and attended Kansas University. He served his country in Vietnam as a Sergeant (E5). For more than forty years, John worked in the automotive industry until his retirement in 2010. John is survived by his wife, Amy, and son, Austin, nephews David (Saundra), Dalton and Garret Abel, and William Robert Hoffman, nieces Lisa (Bill) Robinson, Emily (David) Owen, and Hilary Metzger, sister-in-law Susan (Lynn) Metzger, and his cherished canine companion, Dudley Hoffman. He is preceded in death by brothers Thomas and William, sisters Georgia Abel and Deborah (Tom) Foster, and parents Vincent and Erma. John had a passion for classic cars, 18 holes of golf accompanied by a cold Coors Light, the occasional RPG videogame, grilling out and keeping friends and family well-fed, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs kick ass.
