Betsy was born March 30, 1929, in Elgin, IL to John and Edith (Henke) Young.  Betsy’s life was a testament to her deep commitment to service, both professionally and personally. As a Registered Nurse for 50 years, she dedicated herself to the care of others. Her dedication extended to her parish communities at St. Agnes Catholic Church and later St. Michael the Archangel, where she actively participated in various church ministries, including the Altar Society and the Perpetual Adoration group. Betsy’s culinary talents allowed her to nourish those around her, regularly preparing meals for priests and volunteering at St. Mary’s Food Kitchen. She was also a devoted member of the Serra Club, and generously gave her time volunteering at Marillac and Research Medical Center. Her life was marked by kindness, faith, and an unwavering desire to make a positive impact on those around her. Betsy’s devotion to her family was at the heart of everything she did. From Sunday dinners to summer vacations and celebrating every holiday and birthday together, she made sure to create special moments with her loved ones. She was a supportive and loving Mom and Grammy, attending nearly all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and programs. Betsy had many circles of friends, whether through church, her children’s education and friendships, her various craft and hobby interests, or her work. Anyone who spent time with Betsy would be touched by her infectious laugh and her gentle, kind spirit.

Alsop, Jr., her parents and her brother Jack Young and sister Marie Glover.  Betsy is survived by her children; Anne Stasi, Eileen (Bret) Overholtzer, Mary Lou (Darin) Sewell, Thomas (Angela) Alsop, eight grandchildren; Pat Stasi, Katie Overholtzer, Jacob Overholtzer, Grace (Justin) Magott, Adam Sewell, Monica (Patrick) Doherty, Kyle (Rachel) Alsop, Megan (Ryan) Myer, great grandchildren; Indica, Ryder, Maddox, James and Cameron.

Condolences from the Geiger family. Betsy and Webb were good friends of my parents, Bill and Bette Geiger. They are probably having some good laughs together up in heaven now.
