Wylie F. Yates, Jr., 81, Lenexa, KS, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. The visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., with the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W. 92nd St., Lenexa KS. A luncheon and reception will follow the Mass. Graveside services with Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force will be at 1:30 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions toMidwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (https://www.helpaveteran.org)

      "Wylie Coyote" was born January 22, 1943, in Amarillo, TX the son of Wylie and Maugerite (Helvey) Yates. After high school he joined the Air Force and was proud to serve his country during the Vietnam war. After the war, Wylie had a successful career in sales. He loved people and never met a stranger. Outside of work, he had a passion for saltwater fishing and loved being outdoors. In his later years he became an avid pool player and loved the camaraderie of playing in a league. Wylie is survived by his wife, Mary and daughter Elise.

I never met Wylie, but Mary literally lights up when she says his name. She told me what a gift their relationship was in her life. So thanks, Wylie, for being such a great partner and friend to your loving wife. We will do our best to surround her with grace and compassion through her grief.
