Tere Reyes, 79 of Lenexa, KS passed away on July 15, 2024, from complications of an illness. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 24th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 13615 W 92nd St, Lenexa, KS. Visitation at 9:30 the same day. We will proceed to Resurrection Cemetery for interment.
Tere was born in Mexico City on June 19, 1945. At the young age of 23 she married her beloved Gabriel Reyes on July 27th, 1968, and moved to Chicago and started her family. In 1974, Gabriel’s job took them to Kansas where they really laid their roots.
She worked as lunch lady in her early career with the Shawnee Mission School District. Later in life she would return as paraprofessional, and interpreter. Tere made some of the most amazing friendships and touched so many lives in her career with the district. As time went on, Tere also worked for Amoco Oil alongside her husband where she cultivated more valuable friendships.
Family meant the most to Tere. She was the best Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Wife, Sister-in-Law, Mom, Tia, Gramma and Tita. We are so fortunate to call her ours. Her love will carry us through. If you knew my mother, her friends were her family as well.
Tere is survived by her husband Gabriel of 56 years, 2 children: Jorge Reyes and Sandra Hansen (Brian). Her grandchildren Emme, Joe and Jake. Her brother Agustin Caparros and sister Concepcion Guerra. Also, her loved ones in Mexico, Guatemala, Spain, Arizona, Chicago, Las Vegas, Iowa, Florida, Oklahoma, Colorado and all over KS.
Tere is proceeded in death by her father Agustin Caparros, brother Jorge Caparros and her mother Consuelo Caparros. And other countless family members are welcoming her home.
