Family and friends are encouraged to celebrate Ron’s life afterwards at Brookridge Golf & Fitness club, 8223 W. 103rd St, Overland Park, KS.

Ron was born September 17, 1968 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO the son of Don Kopp, Sr & Pauline Van Camp Sullivan. Ron grew up in Leawood, KS, residing in the neighborhood of Leawood South. He made a mark as a young athlete in wrestling, swimming, and football. He attended Blue Valley High School, then graduated from Blue Valley North High School in 1987 before attending the University of Kansas.

Ron married his former spouse Meredith Plehn in 1991, and had three children between 1995 - 2001 that they centered their life around. He coached all three in their respective sports, frequented Table Rock Lake for boat rides, and constantly encouraged his children and loved ones to live life to the fullest. As “Uncle Ronnie,” he was a loving figure to his nieces and nephews. Throughout his life, he was known to make friends wherever he was. His mantra was to spread love and positivity.

After exploring different trades, Ron became a prominent carpet salesman working with his dad at Designer’s Carpet Library. His experience turned into the start of an independent flooring company, Ron Kopp Carpet & Hardwoods. In all, he aided the design, remodeling, and building trades of the greater Kansas City area for roughly 30 years.

Ron is survived by his father, Don, his mother and her spouse, Pauline and John, two brothers, Don Jr and Tom, sister, Linde, two daughters, Bailey and Zoe, son and his spouse, Ron Jr and Andrea, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, David.

As Ron would say, Keep Smiling and Enjoy the Journey

Ron, always always had a huge smile on his face. Everytime I saw him, he would come up and ask how am I doing or how is life treating you, man? You couldn't help but having a big smile after a conversation with him. Rest in peace my friend. We know you are looking down on us with that big smile.

As a designer, I spent decades working with Ron and his Dad, and other family members. Although I’m retired now, and haven’t seen him for awhile, I have such great memories of my friendship with Ron. We had a great rapport and always enjoyed working on projects together. We laughed a lot and shared the hardships of life too. Knowing he’s gone far too soon, has broken my heart. I grieve for his family and will miss him too! My deepest sympathy to all who loved him.

Ron Jr, Don Sr, and Don Jr, I thoroughly enjoyed my days calling on Designers Library, and working with Ron on a lot of different projects. His enthusiasm, and love of the flooring industry were obvious to everyone who encountered him. May God rest his soul. He has left us too early! John Heiling

I will always remember Ron as the guy I had to wrestle in practice although he was bigger and older than me. I didn't win very much. He was a fierce competitor. I also remember the long car rides to western parts of Kansas to wrestle. Ron always looked out for the younger kids. He was a bigger brother to us younger ones. I pray for his family during this trying time. God Bless you all, and God Bless Ron🙏🙏🙏

It saddened me to hear of Ron’s passing, we grew up together in Leawood South. My mom (Liz Jewell) and his mother (Pauline Sullivan)were best friends and I remember getting into mischief with Ron more than a few times while growing up in Leawood South. I always remember him to be fun loving and carefree wearing a smile most of the time. My condolences to his mother and the rest of his family. May his memories live on forever, R.I.P Ron.
