Robert L. Stanard, 95, of Kansas City, KS, went home to be with his Lord on  Monday, June 17, 2024 at Westchester Village, Lenexa, KS surrounded by his loving family. The visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. with the Funeral Service following at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 20,  at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS.  Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. 

     Bob was born December 15, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Maurice and Helen Stanard. After high school, Bob started his career in electronics by working at Ernie’s  Repair Shop where he learned to repair radios and TVs, he even repaired TVs in his basement after work to support his family.  In 1950 he worked for Thomas A. Edison Electronics for 16 years. He also volunteered work for the Civil Defense repairing their radios .  He was a member of RACES (Radio Amateur  Civil Emergency Services) where he also volunteered for many years as a storm spotter to warn the public of severe weather conditions.  In 1966 Bob started working at the Board of Public Utilities, retiring as Director of the Radio and Cable Department in 1991, after 25 years of service. He had been an avid amateur radio operator since the 1940's with his call sign of K0BZK.  Bob loved the Lord and was an active member and former Deacon of the First Assembly of God Church in Kansas City, KS.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Bonnie after 63 years of marriage in 2012. He is survived by Linda (Gary) Wyss, Lenexa, KS, Randy (Marilyn) Stanard, West Palm Beach, FL, Larry (Karen) Stanard, KCK,  four grandchildren, Tiffany (Brandon) Birk, Todd (Katelyn) Wyss, Justin (Sabrina) Stanard, Jamie Stanard (Eric Tilden), and six great grandchildren, Logan and twins, Colton and Braydon Birk, Aria Stanard, Quinn and Rex Wyss.

Linda, I know your dad was a wonderful dad because he raised a beautiful daughter who loves her Lord and loved her daddy. You have been a great daughter who devoted many years to caring for her dad by checking on him & talking to him. Your separation from him will be hard but it is a sweet reunion for him and your mom.
