Cecil Rex Miller, age 91, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on May 3, 2024.
He was born on January 4, 1933, in Walnut, Kansas, and lived most of his life in the greater Kansas City area. Known as “old buddy” to his family, Cecil was a true friend to everyone he met, and he will be greatly missed.
Cecil grew up in Baldwin City, Kansas, and attended Baker University, where he met his wife, Carol Lee; they would enjoy a happy marriage lasting 63 years. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Kansas. Cecil served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, and later enjoyed a successful career as a CPA and Partner with the Peat Marwick Mitchell (KPMG) accounting firm from 1957 to 1990.
He was a devoted member of Old Mission United Methodist Church. In his retirement years, Cecil enjoyed hiking, jeepingand skiing in the Colorado mountains. He especially cherished traveling the world with his beloved wife, Carol Lee, and making lifelong memories with his grandchildren.
Cecil is survived by his sister, Lela Mae Beach; his brother, James Miller; his daughter, Carla Reynolds; his son, Clark Miller; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Lee Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Old Mission United Methodist Church in Fairway, Kansas. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City, Kansas. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests any contributions in Cecil’s honor be made to the Old Mission Foundation, or to the KPMG Cecil Miller scholarship fund at Baker University.
