Thelma A. Leighty, 90, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024.  Visitation will be from 10-10:30 AM with the Funeral Services following at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 4,  at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS.  Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City,  KS.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice.

Thelma was born January 27, 1934, in Kansas City, KS to Elmer and Georgeann (Wickens) Burchfield.  She graduated from Wyandotte High School.  Thelma was a Manager of Member Services for Community America Credit Union, retiring after 37 years.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, TWA Retirees Club, MO Credit Union League, Pilot Club and the Womens Club of Kansas City, MO.  She volunteered at Kaleidoscope, Kansas City, MO for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband Everett Leighty in 1991, her parents, her daughter Lisa Smith in 2023 and her sister Myrt Harrison in 2003.  She is survived by her children Gregory and his wife Lee Ann Leighty, Arlene and her husband Chuck Casemore, Darin and his wife Susie Leighty, son-in-law Charles Smith, 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
