Jul 12, 1935---Apr 24, 2024

Patsy “Pat” Southard, 88, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024 with her loving daughter at her side.

Pat was born July 12, 1935 to Martha and Henry Hauenschild in Burfordville, Missouri.  In 1957 she married Carl Southard and shortly afterwards moved to Shawnee, Kansas. She spent most of her career working in accounting and portfolio management firms.  She was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church for 65 years where she was a long-time member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Pat found much joy volunteering at Hope Lutheran School, working in the school office, and being their “money counter” for 20 years. Pat was loved for her kindness, compassion and interest in other people’s lives. As an avid “Wheel Watcher”, Pat was quick to solve the most challenging of puzzles - very few could guess a puzzle faster than Pat.

Pat is survived by her daughter Carla Southard, Shawnee, KS, her sister Mary Klaproth, Jackson, MO, her nieces Debbie Klaproth, Jackson, MO, Tammy Klaproth (Tim), Madison WI, and Kim Klaproth (Kevin), Columbia, MO, and other loving nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and her parents.

Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Monday, April 29, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivera Rd.  Shawnee, KS 66216.  The burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Hope Lutheran School and/or Good Shepherd Hospice, 1417 S Fountain Dr. Olathe, KS 66061.

Pat was such a lovely lady. It wasn’t all that long ago when I saw her at church. She always took time to say a few words and always a smile on her face. Will miss seeing her at Hope. She will be missed. Our deepest sympathy to you, Carla John and Freddie Palo
