We are sad to announce the passing of John Williams Krim Jr. of Overland Park, KS. He died at the age of 64 on February 9th, 2024. John was born in Winterhaven, FL on March 2nd, 1959 to Col. John and Mary Alice (Mal) Krim. They had a daughter, Merri, who was born in Warrington, England. They moved from there to Abilene, TX where his brother Stephen G. and Kristina were born. They soon left for Fairchild, Air Force Base in Spokane, WA. After 4 four years there the family moved to March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA. This is where John began his love for baseball and his beloved Red Sox.

John Sr. was then transferred to Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, NE. John continued his love of baseball and started playing football for the local high school where he met some lifelong friends. In 1977, John graduated from high school and went on to attend the University of Arkansas to pursue his baseball career. He soon learned the difference between being a good high school player and playing in the Southwest Conference. Deciding to give up his dream he joined the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity where he met some lifelong friends. He was Vice President of the Freshman Fraternity Council as well as the Chapter. After 4 years of schooling, he left in 1981 for an investment banking job in Little Rock, AR. This is where he met the love of his life, Jacqueline, and was married on June 8, 1985.

After 2 years of marital bliss, they had a son, John Williams Krim III, who was born in May of 1987. After careful planning, they had a daughter, Mary Katherine (Katie) who was born in January of 1992, and to make the family complete Patrick Browning Krim came into their lives in September of 1995.

John was then promoted to Senior VP and Branch Manager of the Overland Park office of Vining Sparks. The family moved to Overland Park, KS in June of 1997 where they joined Ascension Catholic Church.

John was active in the Knights of Columbus and coached all three children in the CYO sports. John soon joined Brookridge Golf Country Club, as he was and soon hooked on golf. This is where he became very close with a group of friends at the club who played several times a week, which led to many memorial golf trips. They refer to themselves as the Maulers and all bare colorful nicknames to match their games. John was deemed Slammy Sammy.

John is survived by his wife, Jackie, of 39 wonderful years of marriage. His son John Williams Krim III and Bobbi of North Kansas City along with Scarlett Gene, John Williams Krim IV, and Robert Graham. His daughter, Mary Katherine (Katie) of Austin, TX, and his son Patrick Browning of Kansas City, MO. His mother, Mal, of Fayetteville, AR. My thoughts and prayers are with the Krim family. Aside from being a great athlete, John was just a class act. He was always so positive about everything and treated everyone in a way that made them feel good. A wonderful friend. God bless you John.

Johnny will forever be in our hearts. He will especially be with us all when we are on the golf course. He was always so good and patient with instructions on how to hit the golf ball better. I will hear his voice forever. Thank you Johnny, from the only female Mauler, Dottie Pepper, aka Dede.
