May 18, 1954---Jan 16, 2024

On Tuesday January 16, 2024, we unexpectedly lost George Boje. George was known and loved by so many as a musician, friend, father, and grandfather. He loved unconditionally, supported selflessly, and had such a rare and amazing ability to lift others up and make them feel loved and appreciated.

George was a pillar of the Kansas City music community. He would be seen at many (almost all) of the regular shows around town, either playing himself or there supporting his friends and fellow players. He will be dearly missed.

George is survived by his four sons, Clifton, Ryan, Kit, and Samuel and by his three grandchildren Ranger, Weston, and Maya.

A Memorial service will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on  Tuesday January 23rd at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa KS. George will be laid to rest at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Mount Muncie Cemetery in Lansing, Kansas. All are welcome to either or both.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Midwest Music Foundation Click here to donate.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve known George since sixth grade. Our paths crossed many times over the years. I’m very sad for you boys and your families. And for Ellen.

1st cousin ,Williamsburg ,Missouri

My mother Frankie and George's mother Evelyn were sisters so we saw each other on a regular basis until the Bojes's moved to the KC area.. I have such good memories of meeting my cousins at my grandma and grandpas farm near Tipton Mo.. Hayrides and skeet shoots etc..were the norm as well as playing in the creeks and fishing down at the river.. He was a fun guy to be around. We last spoke at New Years and he will be missed. Sharon As a fellow musician, it was always delightful to hear George and his band play at the various venues around the KC area. I called upon him a time or two with questions about guitar scales etc. and he was always helpful. He had impressive guitar skills and was a serious player. If there is a celebration of his music at Knuckleheads or some other location, please be sure to make that information public. Howard

I am so sad to hear this news today and at the same time am flooded with many wonderful memories. I had the honor of working with George on the worship team at Indian Creek Community Church. Of course, he was incredibly talented but he was also a wonderful person to make music with. I will hold those memories ever closer now. Peace.

George was my friend, employer, and Sensei over the many years we knew each other. He was one of the kindest, gentle, and generous men I have known during my life. He will be missed.

My husband and I want to extend our sympathy to George's family. His passing was mentioned on NextDoor. I got to know George over 40 years ago when Jeanne and I became friends. He was a kind and caring man who was always there for his sister, Jeanne, in her declining years. I know he will be sorely missed. Blessings to the family.

I just learned of George’s passing. He and his family lived across the street from our family moved when we first moved to 9589 Outlook in Overland Park in 1967. Even back then George played the guitar. I remember once he played what he said at the time, was a recording he had just made with his band. I later learned, it was in fact Eric Burden’s House of the Rising Sun. George owned up to it and we had a good laugh, as he was always light hearted and good humored. My condolences to his family. Kevin M. Passer, M.D.

George was my first REAL guitar teacher at Mission Music and set me on the path of a lifetime of learning. He treated me with respect and was a wonderful person. He was so dedicated to his students that he came to hear my high school band play, and after the show was over, he was beaming with pride. I am sadden for his family's loss. JRZ..._
