My deepest condolences to you all at this time of tragedy. I knew Bob from our work together at CRL. He was one of my most admired mentors and I was lucky to have known him and benefited from his knowledge, energy and dedication. It was not long ago, at a conference, that Bob and I wound up hiking in the Sonoran desert. He fell and cut his arm up pretty well. We used most of our water to clean that up, but he would not stop or turn back. In that moment, I felt like I was walking with my father again - he was also a military man, and utterly relentless in the face of adversity. I miss both of them greatly.

Dear Ones: you have been special friends for 57 years. If you remember, Bob took our wedding pics. We have stayed in contact all these years. Bob was such a smart guy, but not only that, he was a funny guy and so well loved by those who knew him well. We will miss his presence on this old earth, but we have the promise of seeing him again in our eternal home. We grieve and mourn with you sweet family. You loved him well.

Mere words cannot express the feelings I have at the loss of Bob. My sympathies and prayers go out to his family. Bob and I served in the Marine Corps (Vietnam) at the same time. However, I did not meet Bob until we were at the same church. (Newhope Baptist Church) in Santa Ana, California. We became fast friends. He was our photographer at Sheila and my wedding. We still treasure some of those shots. Kathy and Sheila were pregnant with their first babies together. I will always have fond memories of Bob, and I look forward to seeing him again on the streets of Heaven.

Dr. Stout spoke to my 17 year old son 4 years ago, (seems like a life time ago) about chemistry. He took the time to give him a tour of his lab and in that short time solidified my son’s passion for chemistry. Since then Dr. Stout, little to his knowledge has been a part of our conversations with Tony. Dr. Stout became a mentor and a hero in my sons eyes. He stoked a fire under my son that was already there and made it rise. 4 years later my son Tony is graduating with honors in theoretical chemistry with a minor in physics and mathematics going on to a masters and a doctorate. I’ll never forget how excited Tony was after spending a few hours with Dr. Stout. This is a huge gift that was given to my son and as a parent to see that sparkle of happiness in his eyes was a gift Dr. Stout gave to two parents. Tony was just saying once he graduates in May and moves home from Boulder he wanted to come tell Dr. Stout the impact he had on him. Sometimes we never know how we inspire others. We are thankful for you Dr. Stout! May the heavens throw you a remarkable party for a remarkable man. Forever a hero in one young man’s life. Thank you

To the Stout family what an amazing man. I always knew he was instrumental in his field, but not aware how many parents and how much influence he made in it. I am sure you are so proud. Gloria and family I am praying for you and hope you find some peace. I can remember many of times in the house in Lenexa and the famous tuna casserole and working at the lab a few times. I don’t think he was too impressed with our output lol. God bless you. Kathleen

He taught me so much about the lab business and any other topic I needed clarification. I could go to him with any question because his knowledge was so vast. More importantly, Bob taught me to be a better person, father, friend, and husband. He always made people feel special no matter the situation...whether it was in a business meeting with clients or the bathroom attendants in the airport. Bob always had kind words of encouragement for anyone he came in contact with and I loved that about him. He was truly a special individual that was highly respected by many. Meet Bob 40 years ago when i entered the insurance industry. Admired the professionalism of CRL, the excellent way CRL worked with their clients and his willingness to share his research. I grieve the passing of Dr. Bob Stout. I last enjoyed his company at the Canadian Insurance Medicine Conference in Toronto just a month after 9/11/2001. What a gracious host, inviting my wife Vickie and I to the CRL dinner. Dr. Bob and Brian Coens would come up to Berkshire Life Insurance in Pittsfield and we would play golf with Chief Underwriter Larry King. What a pleasure those rounds were. He was an intense man, always face to face, listening, explaining, laughing, teaching, enjoying the moment. That man knew what he was talking about and you could trust him. What a professional. Such a pleasure to be in his presence. That was 23 years ago! I'll remember him that way. Condolences to all his family.
