The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Princeton Cemetery in Princeton, MO.
Barbara was born on November 22, 1955, at the hospital in Bethany, MO, and was raised by loving parents on a dairy farm outside of Princeton, MO. She and her family attended the Princeton Baptist Church, where her father was a deacon. Barbara and her sister Jo took the lessons learned at church deep into their lives. Because of this, they felt it was important that the cats on the farm also be ready for heaven. This, of course, could only happen with full immersion baptism. For some reason, the cats did not appreciate the efforts being put forth on their behalf.
Barbara and her then husband, John Elmore, welcomed their son Christopher John into their family on April 1, 1973. Barbara graduated from Princeton High School, and after her marriage to John ended, she joined her sister Jo at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO, where after only three years she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Communication. Following graduation, she and Chris moved to Clinton, MO, where she worked in the home health department of Golden Valley Hospital. While working at the hospital, the radiology group persuaded her to move to Kansas City and become the Business Manager of their practice, Medical Imaging, Inc.
While working at Medical Imaging, Barbara met Dan Hageman, who came in one day a week to provide cardiac sonography services to patients. They were married in May of 1988 and lived in Olathe, KS, until they moved to their current home in Lenexa, KS, in 1993. In 1997, Barbara and Dan formed their own mobile ultrasound company, Midwestern Mobile Imaging, LLC. In 2000, it was reorganized as Blue Valley Imaging, Inc., with Barbara serving as the President. In addition to her administrative duties, for many years she accompanied Dan and assisted him with the patients.
Barbara loved to travel, and she and Dan (often accompanied by Chris and Jo) would travel as far as a 3 or 4-day weekend would allow. Besides exploring Kansas and Missouri, Barbara’s favorite destinations were Eureka Springs, AR, Santa Fe, NM, the mountains of Colorado, and the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Barbara loved her family and friends with all her heart, and never hesitated to help them whenever possible. She was also extremely artistic and was happiest when she was “creating” in her craft area. She was always eager to try new artistic endeavors. Over the years, she made hundreds of amazing greeting cards. Her family and friends will cherish the wonderful cards she created just for them.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 35 years, Daniel Hageman of Lenexa, and cousins Sherrie Moore of Bentonville, AR, Garry Moore of Princeton, MO, and Terre Tepikian of Overland Park, KS. She is preceded in death by her son, Chris, sister, Brenda Jo Finney, and parents Roscoe and Anna Mae (Kauffman) Finney.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of Barbara’s family and friends for their love and support throughout her lifetime, and especially during her valiant battle with multiple myeloma. Despite the pain, grueling treatments, and brutal side effects, she faced each day with grace, dignity, and a loving disposition.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas or the Princeton Cemetery Association of Princeton, MO.
