Nov 27, 1969---Jan 10, 2024

Rhonda Reed was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on January 10, 2024, at age 54.

She was born to Suesanne & John Gernady on November 27,1969. After she graduated from high school in Deerfield, IL, Rhonda chased her passions in architecture and design at the University of Kansas. Following the completion of her Bachelors degree at KU, she continued to have a successful career in design, followed by an equally successful career in sales & business development.

Rhonda enjoyed spending time with her family, weekend getaways & beaches, preparing amazing meals & entertaining friends.  She was a fierce competitor in everything she did in life and relished a spirited conversation. Rhonda adored her closest friends and especially loved her golf gals at Lake Quivira.  She appreciated a good book, loved to plant flowers and work in a garden. She was always classy, knew how to take a compliment and lit up every room she entered. She will be missed greatly by all.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her brother Fred and her father John. Rhonda is survived by her loving husband of 13 years and 7 months, Brian Reed, her children including Liam Tepen, Tristan Tepen & Owen Tepen, her mother Suesanne Gernady, her brother Edward Gernady, and her niece Alexia & nephew Eddie.

A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on January 20th, 2024 at the Lake Quivira Clubhouse located at 100 Crescent Blvd, Lake Quivira KS, 66217. The family requests no flowers and suggests memorial contributions to the Lake Quivira Garden Club.

My condolences to Rhonda’s family. She was an amazing person and felt privileged to be able to share a laugh or story about our families even as a professional competitor. It was warming to see the amount of love Rhonda and Brian had for each other. They loved each other and their family. She will be missed by so many.

Rhonda was Christmas everyday except sassier. She had the cutest twinkle in her eye like a little smirk . She rolled her eyes when we complained about gutter balls at bowling and whiffs in golf because as competitive as she was Rhonda knew what was really worthy of a complaint , yet, we never heard a peep out of her. In spite of her physical agony . Rhonda was heroic. Not like Superman or Batman , but in the way she lived, really lived her life . Always pushing herself beyond her quitting points and encouraging the rest of us to not sweat the small stuff and to literally keep moving . She was smart and clever and beautiful and passionate . She is missed.

Professionally, her creativity and love for her work shined. I met her first as part of a design project, but also discovered a kind, caring, and selfless friend who truly wanted to connect with everyone in her orbit. She was the definition of open hearted. I am sending so much love to her family and friends and hoping for comfort for all in this difficult time.

I was fortunate enough to meet Rhonda through mutual friends at Lake Quivira and she instantly made me feel like we’d know each other for a long time. She had that rare combination of humor, wit, kindness and humility. I know there is incredible sadness and heartache with her passing, however, I hope her loved ones take solace in that she will truly be with you in your hearts and knowing how much happiness she brought others.

I had the pleasure of working with Rhonda for many years. She was one of kind, always witty with a one liner, strong in her beliefs and intentional. She would give you her time, teach what you did not understand and she was always humble. Rhonda was one of the most passionate people I've ever met. She will be greatly missed, prayers for your family. God Bless.
