Michael Laurance Krump Jr., 82, Lenexa, KS formerly from Gardner KS, passed away January 6, 2024 at Overland Park Regional Hospital. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 13, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 21650 W. 115th Ter, Olathe, KS 66061. Graveside services will be held when weather improves. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Paul’s Building Fund or BraCoutureKC, a local charity for underinsured and uninsured cancer patients in the KC Metro.
Mike was born January 10th, 1941 in Agana, Guam the son of Mike Sr. and Jessie (Burkett) Krump. After losing his father in WWII, Jessie moved back to the states, fell in love with John Thacker and Mike grew up in Antioch KS., where Hillsdale Lake sits. Mike spent a couple of years at KU and joined the Navy where he spent over 25 yrs between full duty and reserves as a Chief Petty Officer and ended his career as an electrician at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant. He retired when they closed. Mike truly enjoyed antiques, cartridges and postcards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother James Krump, Sister-in-law Gloria Jean Winders Krump and his wife of 56 years Rosemary Krump. He is survived by his son John Krump and his wife of 28 years W. Heather Krump and grandchildren Maya and William Krump, and niece Holly (Krump) Shaw, brother-in-law Gerald Beyrle and wife Janet, Sister-in-law Linda Beyrle along with many nieces and nephews.
Mike served his country with honor, he was a proud member of the American Legion, NRA, KS Cartridge Collectors’ Assn., International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and KS Postcard Collectors. Mike was one of the great ones. He will be missed.
