Randal “Randy” Neal Burvee (63) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 27, 2023, at his home in Lenexa, Kansas. Randy was born to Joyce Kay Alkire (Burvee) on September 24, 1960, at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. Randy did not have a relationship with his biological father but was raised as a loving son by Jeffery Wallace Burvee. Randy graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 1978 and attended Emporia State University briefly before turning his efforts into a life-long career in the restaurant industry.
Randy was full of life and passionate about family and friends. Randy was married to Barbara Nelson for a few years and never remarried after their divorce. Randy’s love of his life was his only child, Kelcy Taylor Burvee. Randy loved sports and regularly participated in family gatherings to watch the Chiefs, Super Bowl, or Jayhawks.
Randy was a true professional in restaurant management, with an emphasis on customer service. Throughout his years working at various Kansas City restaurants, Randy always found his way back to Governor Stumpy’s, where he worked as an assistant manager and most recently in other roles with his lifelong friend Kevin Ryan. Randy loved Governor Stumpy’s and all of its staff and patrons.
Randy suffered from significant health problems during the past few years but was trending upward. Randy never lost his love of family and always did his best to stay upbeat when accompanied by loved ones.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jeffery Wallace Burvee; stepfather, Richard L. Bournonville; grandfather, Robert W. Hale; grandmother, Evelyn T. Hale; grandfather, Jewel D. Burvee; uncle, Randy A. Brandenburg; and cousin, Randy A. Brandenburg Jr.
Randy is survived by his mother, Joyce K. Bournonville; daughter, Kelsy T. Burvee; stepmother, Marla J. Burvee; sister, Carrie L. Frazier; brother-in-law, Ron S. Frazier; sister Sherry L. Hicks; brother, Jeffery W. Burvee; sister-in-law, Erin E. Burvee; brother, Tyler A. Burvee; aunt Debbie J. Glynn, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful Siberian Husky “Paws.”
