Sep 24, 1960---Nov 27, 2023

Randal “Randy” Neal Burvee (63) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 27, 2023, at his home in Lenexa, Kansas. Randy was born to Joyce Kay Alkire (Burvee) on September 24, 1960, at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.  Randy did not have a relationship with his biological father but was raised as a loving son by Jeffery Wallace Burvee. Randy graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 1978 and attended Emporia State University briefly before turning his efforts into a life-long career in the restaurant industry.

Randy was full of life and passionate about family and friends. Randy was married to Barbara Nelson for a few years and never remarried after their divorce. Randy’s love of his life was his only child, Kelcy Taylor Burvee. Randy loved sports and regularly participated in family gatherings to watch the Chiefs, Super Bowl, or Jayhawks.

Randy was a true professional in restaurant management, with an emphasis on customer service. Throughout his years working at various Kansas City restaurants, Randy always found his way back to Governor Stumpy’s, where he worked as an assistant manager and most recently in other roles with his lifelong friend Kevin Ryan. Randy loved Governor Stumpy’s and all of its staff and patrons.

Randy suffered from significant health problems during the past few years but was trending upward.  Randy never lost his love of family and always did his best to stay upbeat when accompanied by loved ones.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jeffery Wallace Burvee; stepfather, Richard L. Bournonville; grandfather, Robert W. Hale; grandmother, Evelyn T. Hale; grandfather, Jewel D. Burvee; uncle, Randy A. Brandenburg; and cousin, Randy A. Brandenburg Jr.

Randy is survived by his mother, Joyce K. Bournonville; daughter, Kelsy T. Burvee; stepmother, Marla J. Burvee; sister, Carrie L. Frazier; brother-in-law, Ron S. Frazier; sister Sherry L. Hicks; brother, Jeffery W. Burvee; sister-in-law, Erin E. Burvee; brother, Tyler A. Burvee; aunt Debbie J. Glynn, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful Siberian Husky “Paws.”

The family would like contributions in Randy's name to go to Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary in Spring Hill, Kansas. https://www.alwaysandfurever.org/donate/

There will be a celebration of Randy’s life at Governor Stumpy’s at 321 E. Gregory Blvd. KC, MO, 64114, on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 1400-1600.

Our condolences to all the family of Randy. The thing I remember most was his spirited and creative speech he have in 7th Grade US class stating why he should be elected to be our 7th grade representative in Stucco. Praying God's unfathomable peace for all of you, as his family. Phil 4:6-7

We were SO sad to hear of Randy’s passing. What a bright light. He made us feel like family at Stumpy’s, and was a great friend to our daughter, Julia, who is one of the cooks there. He will be missed!!! But we can all aspire to his level of connection to people and the joy of life that he displayed on a daily basis. I’m betting St Peter has hired him at “reception” at the Pearly Gates. Now there’s a greeting we’d all like to receive - just as we did at that little slice of heaven that is Governor Stumpy’s.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Randy's entire family. Randy and I were close friends in High School, College, and working together. I was always welcome in their house and felt like I was part of his family. We took different paths later in life but were able to catch up and share old stories from time to time. I will miss you my friend. Cheers!

Blessings and Prayers for Strength and Stamina as you navigate through these next few weeks. Randy became very dear to us when he asked Santa (my husband Pat) to deliver a live puppy to his daughter for Christmas. Santa ended up visiting a few other neighbors who Randy felt needed a special Christmas too. Just one of many examples of his life of service to others. Peace and Love, Randy. Say Hi to Santa for me. 💕
