Miss Betty was one in a million. She was the sweetest person I ever met. I will miss her so much. Looking across the street will never be the same. I will miss seeing her blue car pull in the driveway, or her walking to her mailbox to get her mail. She was a lady that always had a smile on her face and was always dressed to the nine. Her hair was never out of place . She was just one of those ladies. Miss Betty was also a lady that was always on the go from her church , to her clubs to her family and friends. I don’t know how she did it all . I would be exhausted. But Miss Betty did it with ease. Miss Betty you will always hold a special spot in my heart.

Growing up Miss Betty and Harold (who I used to call Mr.Betty when I was younger) were always the absolute sweetest. I remember it was my job every morning to go over and put their newspaper up on their front porch before school. I was always so fascinated with her gorgeous porcelain dolls (thank you to her family for giving me one to pass down to my daughter). I always knew miss Betty was home when I could look across the street and see her perfect white hair in her front room window. My grandmas home will not be the same with out the bowers across the street. Miss Betty truly was the sweetest soul. I am so heartbroken to hear of her passing but knowing her and Harold have been reunited makes me so happy.

Our thoughts and prayers go to the family. My mother, Marilyn Wheeler Drake, and Betty would talk about the good times they had as kids growing up. My mom has been gone awhile and I still smile when I see pictures of her and Betty and Betty's sisters and her sisters. My dad, Larry, still reads the KC Star and caught the notice in the paper and called me. I'm sorry we cannot be there Friday. Know that we are there in our thoughts and prayers. From a distant cousin, Devona Drake Herrin, daughter of Marilyn (Wheeler) and Larry Drake.
