David E. Kilgore, 74, was called home Saturday, September 16, 2023. Celebration of Life will be 3:00 PM Sunday, September 24, at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 3800 NE Parvin Road, Kansas City, MO 64117 with a visitation/reception to follow the service. Burial will be 12:30 PM Monday September 25, 2023 in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
David was born October 22, 1948, in Red Oak, IA to Mary Lou Steinhurst. David served in the US Army as a Combat Engineer in Vietnam earning the National Defense Service medal, the Vietnam service medal and two Bronze Stars displaying incredible bravery. David worked for the City of Kansas City, MO until his retirement after 31 years. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. David was preceded in death by his mother, his father John Kilgore, four brothers Bill, Rick, John, Larry and two daughters.
David's life was not an easy one, but he managed to make it a beautiful one leaving a legacy of love and laughter. That legacy includes his beloved wife, Vickie, his son John (Vicki) Kilgore, three daughters, Martha (Scott) Stephenson, Anna (Eddie) Sly, Devon (Kosta) Kirilov, sister Debbie (Jerry) Reno, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous family members and friends.
David loved spending time with his family; he loved to travel, hunt, fish, the theatre and painting birdhouses. While David's earthly body may be gone, his spirit will live on in the love he showed and will never be forgotten.
