Lois Margaret Thomas, 76, of Olathe, KS, went to be with her Lord Friday, July 14, 2023. 

Lois was born October 8, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA to Walter and S. Elizabeth (Martin) Herman. Lois completed her Master’s degree in Nursing at The University of Pennsylvania in 1977. She had a passion for education, dedicating her career to educating others as a nursing instructor at the Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, retiring in 2016. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Lois. She enjoyed going to church, reading scripture, playing the piano, a nice cup of hot tea and spending time with her loving husband of 47 years. She loved being a mother and, most recently, being a grandmother.

She is survived by her husband Samuel J. Thomas, her 2 sons and their wives Dr. Jonathan Thomas (Dr. Johnna Thomas) and Dr. David Thomas ( Dr. Jessica Czapnik), 1 grandchild Quinn Thomas, 2 brothers W. James Herman and Dr. David Herman, many extended family, and her beloved dog Bailey. 

The visitation will be held Saturday, July 22 from 12:30-1:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Street, Lenexa, KS- followed by the Funeral Service at 1:30 PM. Immediately after, the internment will be held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave Overland Park, KS. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Christian Missions in Many Lands (CMML, Inc., PO Box 13, Spring Lake, NJ 07762-0013).
