Mary F. Greene of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away on May 10, 2023.  She was the 6th of 7 children born to Leslie and Carrie (Perkins) Case, born on March 10, 1925, in Blackwater, Missouri. She was the last living of the 7 children.  Mary is survived by her 5 children, Linda Smith, Patty Meadows (Mike), John Greene (Jeanette), Dale Greene (Patti) and Judy Mount (Kevan Beals). She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dayle L. Greene, who she met in Sedalia, Missouri, and married in 1950. Dayle passed away at the young age of 60 in 1984. 

Mary ensured her children had everything needed for a healthy, happy childhood.  Mary and Dayle were family oriented and proud that they could provide big, fabulous Christmases with lots of presents.  Every holiday during the year was marked with family get-togethers.

Mary worked part-time jobs while the kids were small.  Most memorable was selling pool memberships to Stonegate Swim Club so her children had pool privileges for life.  She worked full-time at Harzfeld’s department store for many years, rising to management positions in the gift and children’s departments.  She also worked for the Jones Store Co. before finally retiring from retail sales at the age of 78. 

Even in her 90’s, Mary loved to be with friends at Bingo several times each week and listening to the band, dancing and playing penny slots every Saturday night at Argosy Casino.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kansas, on May 17, 2023, at 1:30pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
