Sep 19, 1963---Dec 21, 2022

Anne Marie Thorne, 59, of Overland Park, KS, passed away December 21, 2022.  She was born Sept. 19, 1963, in Denver, CO.

Anne graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1981 and earned her degree in education at Kansas State University, teaching many years in both grade and junior high school. Most recently, she worked at the Social Security Administration.

Anne was passionate about many things: family, holidays, games, needlework, home, yard and especially her dog, Truffles. Always the lead at creating fun, she made all gatherings memorable. She continually chose to focus on the positive in life. Nieces and nephews found her to be a source of wisdom and love.  We will all miss her joy and laughter!

Anne was preceded in death by her mother, Clare Marie Thorne and her brother Eugene Thorne, Jr.  She is survived by her father, Eugene F. Thorne, Sr., her siblings; Bridget Thorne, Terri Kilgore (Charley), Brian Thorne (Deanna), Michael Thorne, Karen Thorne.  And numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation at 9:00 AM Dec. 29 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W 103rd St, Overland Park, KS. Funeral Mass will follow visitation at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Johnson County or Mother’s Refuge.

Anne was a pleasure to work with. She always had a smile on her face and in her voice. We were lucky to have known her. I will be praying for those of you she has left behind but celebrating the beautiful memory of Ms. Anne Thorne. God bless.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. Anne was a genuine person that I really enjoyed talking with. Although my title at work is a supervisor, the wisdom and advice that Anne gave me overshadowed my title. Every time we spoke, she was the same in attitude. Smiles, laughs and just always friendly. I shared a story with her about my "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree". Each year, she asked about it and we laughed. This year I was to send her a picture of it. Sadly, I did not get to do so. She will be dearly missed at SSA and also missed personally in my heart. I pray for the comfort and love of the Holy Spirit to be with each of you. May the overflowing love of Jesus fill your heart during this time of sadness.

Anne lived her life with laughter, kindness and gusto, much like her beloved mother, Clare Marie. I feel privileged and blessed to have shared her amazing life. She lit up a room and her light will be shining bright in heaven. Love to all
