Clarissa Ann Cyphert, 88, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2022 at Hospice House Olathe, KS. 

Clarissa (Clare) was born in Horton, KS, one of eleven children. She graduated from Horton KS High School and traveled to Kansas City in 1952 upon her acceptance into Central Business College, and completed the Life Schlolarship Business Courses. 

While in Kansas City, Clare was introduced to John through a mutual acquaintance.  After a short courtship, they married and for the next 63 years rarely left each other's side.  They raised two children, Mark and Theresa (Terri). Clare and her family followed her husband John’s career to Salina, KS., Peoria, Decatur, and Hoffman Estates, IL., and finally to Lenexa, KS. 

After her children were of school age, Clare returned to work. She held many clerical jobs and enjoyed them all. Ultimately she retired from Mobil Oil, lastly holding the position of credit account analyst. 

Clare was an active member of Holy Trinity Parish in Lenexa, KS, and remained a woman of faith throughout her life. She enjoyed volunteering, and playing cards and board games.  A life-long competitor, she was always up for a game with her family or friends. She particularly enjoyed playing “Hand and Foot” with her friends at Lakeview Village, Lenexa, KS. 

Clare is preceded in death by her husband John Cyphert, father and mother Herbert and Amelia Winterscheidt, sisters Sr. Mary Winterscheidt FMA, Bernadette Orth, Theresa Winterscheidt, and Bertha Sullivan, and her brothers Lawrence Winerscheidt, Fr. Leo Winterscheidt SDB, and Francis Winterscheidt. 

She is survived by her son Mark Cyphert and wife Judy of Naperville, IL, and daughter Terri Katuzienski and her husband Joe of Yorktown, VA.  She also leaves behind brother John Winterscheidt, sisters Sr. Patricia Winterscheidt and Catherine (Cathy) Hughey, grandchildren Ryan (Sarah), Jenna (Jack), Daniel (Hattie), Matthew, Michelle (Michael), and Elizabeth (Kenneth), as well as 8 great-grandchildren. 

A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on December 2, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lenexa, KS.A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice House – Olathe Health, Olathe, KS.
