Doris Jean Hopkins-Braden, 68, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Thursday September 8, 2022 at Stratford Commons. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday September 15, at 5 PM, at First Baptist Church of Shawnee, 11400 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS  66203. The family requests no flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Institute of Mental Health or the Susan G Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer. 

Doris was born December 10th 1953 in Salzburg, Austria to John and Shirley Hopkins. As a young child she traveled the world with her family, as her father was in the military. They settled in the Kansas City area, where she met her husband, John Braden. She worked in various capacities, ranging from Wyandotte Ministries, security officer, printer, and child care provider. She had a passion for children and helping others. She wanted everyone to know the love of Christ and had compassion for everyone. She never met a stranger. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Shirley Hopkins, and her sister Shirley Seetin. Doris is survived by her husband John Braden, children Izzy Ides, Jon Braden, and grandchildren Bella Braden, Audrina Braden, and Jett Braden. She is survived by extended family daughter in law Ashley Braden, son in law David ides, and sisters Hazel Bailey and Linda Bullman. I would be remised if I didn’t mention her cats Oscar, Jasmine, Duke and Jack. Special mention to Sprinkles, her favorite dog.
