Jul 28, 1962---Jun 27, 2022

DANIEL JOSEPH MULVANY, 59, died Monday evening June 27, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be held at Nativity Catholic Church, 3800 W. 119th, Leawood, KS on Friday July 1 at 9:00 am, where family and friends may offer prayers and words of hope. The funeral liturgy will immediately follow at 11:00 am.  A private, family internment will take place at a later date. Dan was born July 28, 1962, the fourth son of Blake and Rose Ann McGuire Mulvany and attended St. Peter’s Cathedral and Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, Kansas.  Following graduation, he attended Benedictine College and the University of Kansas where he pitched for the baseball teams. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, his brother Patrick McGuire Mulvany and his sister Megan Ann Mulvany. Dan is survived by his son Danny (Julie), Mulvany, Overland Park, KS, and his 3 grandchildren Keegan, Conor and Brianna Mulvany.  He is also survived by his siblings, Kevin (Mary) Mulvany, Lenexa, KS; Tim (Sandy) Mulvany, Roeland Park, KS; Mick Mulvany, Eudora, KS; Lisa Kohnle (Craig), Olathe, KS; Trish Arnold (Keith), Shawnee KS; Rose Mulvany Henry (John), Kansas City, Kansas; Kelly Mulvany, Olathe, KS; and Ryan (Andrea) Mulvany of Kansas City, MO.  Dan is also survived and loved by his many nieces and nephews as well as lifelong friends, business associates, the crew at Coach’s, and about anyone he had the opportunity to meet. Dan’s passion for his sports teams, particularly the Royals and the Jayhawks, rewarded him in the ultimate way with championships in 2015 and 2022. He loved lake life, and it was there that he found the peace that we all continuously seek. Dan never, ever met a stranger. He was full of trivia and always had a story or a smile and went out of his way to make sure everyone around him was happy. Dan connected with people effortlessly and his gift of storytelling was the foundation of a successful career in restaurant management and sales. He was an eternal optimist in the face of what most others would perceive as a challenge. As he was one of the proudest Irishmen we all ever knew, we are grateful that he is finally basking in the glow of the Eternal Emerald Isle. Slainte, Big Dan, until we meet again. Please hug Louie and Brenda for us … and let us know how wonderful Patrick and Megan are.

Dear Mulvany Family, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart and prayers go out to the family. I was graced to meet Dan just a little over two years ago at Coach’s. He was a good friend and counselor to all. I enjoyed our conversations on life, religion and politics. He had an experience that would engage you to be entertained, educated, and first and foremost, Spiritually Moved. He was the Alpha of the group. He would fuel the conversation, make you laugh and think all at the same time. Plus keep you in check! For me, it was the type of conversation you have with your Dad or best friend. His reflection speaks to your family. What an amazing group you must be! My Condolences to you all. May his Spirit and Memory comfort you at this time. “He heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 I will not mourn his death, but celebrate his life here on earth, and now his eternal life with Jesus. Until We meet again at the table my friend! Respectfully, Donica Littrell

I was the benefactor of many beers bought by Danny at Coach's Bar & Grill after my softball games. As recently as this Spring, Dan was always ready to buy you a drink and share a joke or funny story with you to make your day better. Very generous and humorous was big Dan. My condolences to the family. He spoke often of you all.
