Jul 10, 1938---May 09, 2022

John J. Wenski, 83, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away May 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

John was born July 10, 1938 to John and Clara Wenski.  He graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS in 1956. He married Lynne Meeks Wenski in 1961. They had 2 children, Lisa Wenski of Olathe, KS and Troy Wenski of San Jose, CA.  He was the proud Papa to 2 granddaughters, Audra and Makenna of San Jose, CA.

John worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone, later AT&T, for 38 years where he formed many lasting friendships.

John was a quiet, gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor.  He enjoyed fishing and shared that passion with his son and granddaughters.  He loved cars, horse racing and 50s music.  He was especially proud of his little red sports car. He enjoyed putting it in car shows where he won several awards.  He loved to support local sports teams including the University of Kansas basketball team, Royals and Chiefs.

He was proud to have served in the Air Force and was an avid supporter of the military.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne; children, Lisa and Troy; and granddaughters, Audra and Makenna.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, May 18th, at 10 a.m. followed by a Catholic mass at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Disabled American Veterans.

I had a blast everytime John took me fishing. His Chevelle was super cool in my book. And anytime I popped in, Lynne always had a fresh pitcher of the best iced tea! I gave John a George Harrison record of electronic music for a party he was throwing at the house. I can still hear John laughing as he told me what he and his friends thought of it. John had the best laugh! We always fished at Wyandotte County Lake. One morning, we came across a group of guys that were frog gigging. We had a young kid with us and I can't remember who he was. But he exclaimed, I'd like to go frog gigging! John got so tickled by that and I got to hear that laugh again. Thank you, John, for being the best guy ever! Rest in Peace, Steve

Lynn and family, I am so sorry to read of John's passing. He was a coworker of Reed's for many years. I know he will surely be in a chair right next to Reed in Heaven. May God comfort you at this difficult time.
